Make sure you engaged the clutch fork to the throw out bearing. You have to manually push it forward and you'll hear a noise like it snaps in. If you just pulled the engine you shouldn't have to re bleed the clutch system but since you attempted you'll have to. Pretty much it's like the brake system only you have to manually pull the petal back up. When I do it I use my vacuum bleeder to kinda get it started since sometimes it's a huge pain. Then once I get a little bit of a petal I continue to bleed it normally.

I know clutch fork is engaged. when I went to reinstall the fork the slave was to far forward to let me get it into place so i cracked the bleeder open to releave some pressure. I used the the air bleeder and got pressure in my petal it just isn't moving the clutch fork far enough forward to disengaged the clutch. I also had the slave out so the I could have the bleeder up up high enough for the air to travel to it

Yeah, as a matter of fact my friend was having problems getting his brothers 02 wrx's clutch working after we swapped in a working engine and even with me there we couldn't seem to get it to work for us. Luckily for us the guy he bought the engine from sent us an of slave with master already bled. So we just put that on and automatically got the petal back.

I know they like to look at the vin but all the slaves will work. The 02-03 slave seems not to be as good of a design. I'd go for the 04 style. Everything will bolt up to what's there. If you just wanna go with the one that's on there then just give them your last 8 of your vin. A new one would be better then nothing. If there is someone in your area that might be able to check it out that knows what they are doing I'd go that route first instead of just throwing parts on your car. But it's your choice.

If you were closer I'd come help ya out but that is way to much of a hike for me. Petrol is costly these days. Plus I'm pretty booked up.

Goes next to the slave it self. They share the same holes. Tried to get some pictures the best I could for you.
Top From the passanger side From the drivers side The clutch line attaches to that.

Couldn't tell ya. lol. I know the old slave always seemed like a bad design. It's probably to help to be able to bleed it better. Could be wrong though.

I thought that was attached to the bottom of the clutch master cylinder. that circle part. Maybe I wasn't listening well when it was described to me.

Found it.
http://www.iwsti.com/forums/how-inst...post-pics.html Apparently people take them out. It involves both parts.

That sucks. I had a leaky master too. It's not that bad of a job.
