Yep I feel that... my best stretches at the gym were when I had a good partner and I wouldnt just say 'eh I'll go later' but I dont have that now so its tough. I never feel like going, but once I'm there I'm all about it. Just gonna keep making myself go... maybe hang a couple pics of D on the wall for motivation, haha...

What do you guys do about spotters? I'm at the point now where I can't (or shouldn't) really put up my heavy sets without a spotter, and I have nobody to spot me.

i usually grab the nearest guy, or use the bench things where the bars are hooked on and you need to raise the bar and twist to release it, if you know what i mean.

i go to the gym by myself in the morning. I can focus on my workout... which is the only reason i'm there.

I use dumbbells right now for all my lifting. in order for my to get up anyway i need to bring them to my chest and use my legs and back to sit up.

creatine, allows muscles to absorb more water. usually increases the amount of weight you can lift, though that will decrease if you stop using it. i believe it also assists in sustaining a workout via that extra water in the muscles as well
BCAA's? Creatine? That's whack...

What happened to having some protein and a nice fast absorbing carb before a workout? lol

Creatine will put more water on your muscles, make you bloated, and give you some size that you can loose with a long piss.

Depends what your goals are though as to what exactly you should be putting into your body.

I'm one week into staying on a schedule at getting to the gym and getting in good workouts without any lapses... really hoping to keep this going for another couple weeks, by which time it will be more automatic. I'm in a good mental state... feeling good and looking forward to the next trip to the gym, so I'm optimistic that I'll keep it up, even though historically I'm a bit of a see-saw lifter, normally in 6 month cycles though.
Finally! Glad to hear this! Stick with it this time around bro.

Going by yourself is much better, atleast that's how I feel. I know 80% of the people at my gym so if my partner doesn't go I will just work out with someone else, pending I feel up to it that day. I zone out pretty easy so I can't really focus on anything but working out and I ****ing HATE when people take too long to do their set and I start losing my pump.

For supps, what are you trying to look into? A pre-workout for something to get you motivated/amped up to work out? Something that WILL ACTUALLY increase your size and strength AKA not something at GNC, or the real deal "sauce" LOL

The only real time you should need a spot is on flat/incline bar bell. What else would you need a spot for? Granted, i've seen people get spots for almost everything haha, but idk...And like someone else said, just shout. Everyone in the gym is usually pretty helpful/friendly.

If you really need a spot, jump on the smith machine (kinda sucks because you take out the stability) however just throw on more weight as it's much easier. That, or use dumbells. I have no problem doing 105lbs myself, because you can just throw them down if you can't get another. If you were on barbell, then you might be in some trouble. LOL

What kind of weight are you throwing around big dawg?

Use your back/legs to get back up? huh? When you're done your set of 10 or whatever you do, put the weights up above your body parrellel, slowly drop them to your knees and that will bring your body weight up. (pending you are actually putting some weight up, I don't think you can do this with 35s,45s,50s, etc...)

People use everything. Go to your gym and look at the biggest, most schredded dude. He's probably stacking d-boll, suss, whinny, and snortin' coke.

For the average person, look into those gnc products. Animal pump, animal stack, m5, cellucor p6 red, etc etc. Most of those are really worthless and honestly, going to be more mental than anything. You will be like, "yeah man! I'm on this so it's working" and all it's really doing is making you work out harder because you want to see results.

Honestly, just eat alot of food (clean food of course) and train like a ****ing animal. You will be fine with just that, atleast that's what works for me. I've changed alot so I must be doing something right...lol

most supplements are pretty much crap.

whats a good online store to get **** at though? GNC sucks... but the online store is the best i've seen for supplements since you can actually get around it instead of dealing with articles...

when did i say mean things? i'm innocent i tell ya

They have great prices compared to GNC. I actually get my protein from GNC because I have a few buddies who work their/manage so it really comes out cheap.

I believe bb.com has good deals sometimes too.

I like GNC's stuff. i've got wheybolic extreme 60 sitting here. tastes great and does the job. just wondering where to get cheaper products. i hate buying this stuff on websites though... i may take a trip to gnc today. i'm also too impatient to wait for stuff in the mail...

i haven't notices much of anything with the creatine. i'm using the pills from gnc "amplified creatine 189". its not supposed to make you bloat like powdered monohydrate creatine. I haven't noticed any bloat. I also stop taking the stuff on my off weeks (tattoo breaks)... so i know that is affecting the amount of creatine my body retains.

I'm experimenting with the BCAA's... nothing wrong with that.

I've noticed decent gains over the past month or so of working out, a slight slimming down w/ no weight loss. Though, i'm not exactly strong yet haha... dumbbell presses with 45's in each hand... pathetic i know, but i'm thinking i can up it to 50 tomorrow, see if i can bang out 4 sets of 10.

Seeing gains is pretty damn exciting. I'm def a fan of eating a ton of food, the right food anyway. But i don't think there is anything wrong with using a little science to see how it affects your body.

There is no doubt in my mind that you read and know alot more about the scientifics of body building. I'm not into that, really.

As far as waiting for the stuff from online, it really only takes 2-3 days tops and the prices are really good. I'm a huge online shopper so I find it best that way. Have you ever gone to vitamin shop? They are good too.

Nope, nothing wrong with expierimenting with anything. I'm just saying that I do not believe in most of that stuff and rather not waste my money or stress about not taking it that day. lol

It's not pathetic, it takes time to build up. Less than one year ago I started at 35's on chest LOL! Each week just push yourself to go up. If you don't get your full sets, drop set to get the pump and stretch. If you don't try to go up, you won't grow and you won't get stronger. That's a must, always push yourself even if you don't think you can do it. Don't get discouraged when you get up in the weights. You hit plataeu's and you can't go up in weight each week. No biggie...

Seeing gains and your body transform is the best part man. If that didn't occur, most of us would quit and say **** it. Take food as far as it will go, and if you see no change then maybe try a supp but those should be a last resort.

So just curious here, i pretty much live a ****ed up routine (in my mind atleast) that consists of getting up at 11pm, going to work til 1030pm, going to the gym from 1130pm til usually 2 or 3am. So heres my dilemma. Ive started working out more and more since ive joined Planet Fitness. I go about 4-5 times a week. Im not trying to lose weight or tone up per-say, just get back into shape and put on some more muscle. I dont normally eat til i go on my lunch break thats typically around 6pm. I often grab something after work like a PB&J or 2. I dont want to eat when i get home from the gym but i am always STARVING. Like i said, its about 3 am. I cant eat a meal or anything since ill be asleep around 4. First, does anyone else typically get slammed with hunger after working out? if so, what do you do to kill the urge to eat? Ive always eaten ice. its just not holding up anymore. Since ive started working out, ive developed one helluva appetite. suggestions?

do you drink a shake after your workout? I'd imagine that should fill you up.

eat well and eat frequently

When you workout you tear apart your muscles, without the right foods they will not rebuild and you will not gain more muscle mass. Have a protien shake with milk after your workout and before you go to bed, casien or whey.

Small meals all day is the way to go if you can

eat breakfast! you dont eat for the first 7 hours of your day?! Ive eaten 3 times by then, food in the begining of the day is the most important.

and damn dude 2.5 to 3.5 hours in the gym? what they hell do you do for all that time?

Man what a thread haha. My new gf and I have started going to the gym together. It's been a good 2 years since I've personally set foot in a gym. But I decided to start going again because Michelle was talking about it and didn't have motivation to go by herself so I offered to tag along. My biggest reason to goin is because I'm sick of being worn out or tired after running or doing stuff at work that requires lifting. Most of it is because when I used to lift full time I had money to eat 6 times a day, a free membership to the gym and I surfed, skated, snowboarded or wakeboarded to keep up. Not so much anymore haha, only thing now is that my gf was nice enough to pay $20 more a month for me to be able to go with her

Plus I'm a skinny dude that doesn't eat well anymore (not to mention I'm a vegeterian haha). There's a lot of good info in here. A lot of stuff I either didn't know, forgot about, or had the wrong idea about it. Prety pumped to go to the gym today after work an get back into eating consistently and feeling better. Thanks for the info so far guys... It's really uplifting and motivating for me a least.

yea, i dont really eat at all in the beginning of the day. it sounds rediculous, but idk. i just never have an appetite until 4 or 5 at night. I guess i could somewhat force it. I dont eat much junk or anything like that. I was just worried that, despite working out for a few hours, eating then crashing would practically contradict it.

my routine consists of starting on the bike and doing a "rolling hills" setting for 25. After that, i do 3 ab machines that i like. Its crunches, one twisting one, and then lower abs. I typically do 3 sets of 10 reps. After that, i do upper body. I work all the upper body machines. I do 4 sets of 10. After that, i get back on the bike for 15 minutes. After the bike, i usually do legs, then back, then upper body again. Finish it off with a ride on the bike. Typically go another 25-30 minutes.

if you force eating at the start of your day a couple times your body will probably get used to it, it should get your metabolism up. Then you will find yourself starving if you skip breakfast.

You should try working different muscle groups every day, if you work the same muscles everyday they dont get a chance to rest. It shouldnt take you more then an hour to work one group of muscles. Your probably overtraining as it is.

I split my workouts in to back and bi, chest and tri, shoulders and legs, I usually workout 3 days a week. You could split it up even more since you go 4-5, or you could dedicate days entirely to cardio.

I dont really work my abs that often, might do them once a week, other then that they just get worked through my other exercises and sports
