Stock OE Mufflers

Now that some have seen and heard my car.... when I say it too loud still I mean it.

I hate to remove 757.38 worth of 2 muffler but I may have to. I want to make it a little less noticeable. With there being a lot of higher horsepower cars on the road now, there has to be something out there that has what I need on it.

I am looking for a stock muffler less then 18inch in length with a 2.5inch inlet. I need two. What come stock on a WRX or STI? It may be an affordable option for me, but what do you guys think, any other cars you might know of or have?

All I know is that a stock WRX muffler is about the size of a suburban home mailbox.

Don't remove the mufflers, just add resonators. They will do more to quiet it down than just a muffler alone.

already did that. It made it from ridiculous to still too loud, they took out the deep bass exhaust tones. Its a matter or trying to make the car sound normal some what sleeperish

Look into the stp exhaust from subarugenuineparts.com for the o8-o9 wrx if thats the way your are looking. other then that I would say what about magnaflow dont they make some nice mufflers that dont have a lot of sound to them.

I dunno... I run dual 2.5 from the headers to, into an H pipe, into 2 12inch glass packs out to my Borla XR's. So its completely wide open from the header back. When I bought the exhaust parts 2 years ago I wanted the loud muscle tone, but its only going to be trouble.

I want to go for subtle and inconspicuous now. I found out the OE mufflers on the STi are 2.25 inlet so no dice there. 350/370z use a single, no good, I gotta keep my eyes open.

Why not get a H pipe with cats? your gonna need cats to make it remotely quite not just resonators.

And you could use a STi muffler but would need it to bottle neck into 2.25

Where are the mufflers located? Are they at the rear bumper? Do you have room anywhere to just throw a set of normal flowmasters or something like that? Or are you trying to find a round style muffler?

There are tons of round style mufflers, you can get ANY type of muffler in any size. I think going with something from jeg's or summit is the way to go

Let me rephase this better. I am looking for QUIET mufflers, summit jegs, whoever all see some sort or muffler that is designed for performance and tone. I am trying to find something that is OE type 2.5 in, its just a nightmare. Flowmaster would be be a downgrade to a more raspy sounding muffler. I am posting on LS1tech now trying to get other suggestion. I may have to call up walker mufflers since they dont answer emails.

Yeah they are all closed I may try magnaflow. This car is too obvious that it has very cammed V8, just trying to fly under the radar better. And I have 0 back pressure so a little will help

I'd run a basic ls1 exhaust setup and just have a cutout before the mufflers. My buddy runs this setup and with the cutout it is very noticeable/obnoxious/badass but when its closed it's actually pretty reasonable. I will give him a call later and find out what catback he's running and let you know what mufflers.

just go to napa and have them pull it up by size. they have a computer program that lets you select inlet, outlet, length, width, offset or straight etc. all for oe replacement walker mufflers.

the borla xr's are meant to be loud as hell though. if you want something quietish that still has some tone id look into magnaflow and possibly adding cats since that will smooth it out a lot

I understand that, i meant basing it off of a basic ls1 exhaust setup that you like. Then you can go out, buy the mufflers and have it all welded up.
I wasn't able to get a hold of my buddy tonight but if you'd like i will try tomorrow.

I called Walker/Dynomax today after receiving a generic email back. What a bunch of clowns on the tech line their. I explained the vehicle to the person, and after the yeah um hums he asked me the year make and model only to start suggesting mufflers for a KA24DE after I went through what was in the car, how the exhaust was laid out, and what I am looking for.

I will never purchase anything from these guys after wasting my time with them. Off to call Magnaflow.....
