I'd rather lose my non-dominant arm, coming from a person who is right handed, so I could care less about my left arm.

Would rather lose a non dominant arm. There's a guy that drag races a low 7 second dragster with one arm and is real good too.

im gettin my back done first but its the 4th for the same thing which makes it 10xs more complicated and it involves the nerves and **** on my spine so im nervous as hell so when i stop bein a pussy about surgery im gonna do it but i hate surgery so ill stick with the meds right now but next will be the hip which is 3 surgerys and the socket and the part that goes in will titanium. next it to get the bones in my feet cut then straightined after that ill be 98% normal walking with braces like i use now but my walks all ****ed up as i sit. so once i stop bein a pussy about it the cuttin starts but if the pain meds are help im gonna stay put i dont wanna lose more feeling with the spine **** but i trust the dr 100% hes been there since day one. i still pull bitchs so im happy

iLIMB FTW! And now you can get an extremely realistic skin for it. Only one negative, 50K price tag, lol. |

I would rather lose a leg. You can hide the prosthetic leg under jeans or whatever. If you lose your arm, there are just so many things that you will not be able to do again.

To be honest I'm not sure about the type of motors, although I know they're coming out with a revised version soon with stronger motors in the fingers. Currently the pinch force is only like 2-3 lbs on the iLIMB. My current ETD (electronic terminal device) with titanium hooks is over 20 lbs of pinch force, or at least it was when it was new.
As far as things catching up, the thing that needs to catch up the most is the process of integrating artificial mechanicals and electronics with human flesh+nervous system signals. There has been a successful test subject that controlled a prosthetic arm by using only a brain-implanted chip. (essentially becoming the first cyborg in existence) But it's still deep in the testing phase and is only being tested by the military at this point. As far as lag, I honestly have very little "lag" to speak of in my myo-electric hybrid arm setup. Once it becomes second nature and you don't need to think about, the lag really isn't very noticeable. The lag that does occur in my setup though, is 90% motor/mechanical related. As my arm has gotten older and the motor has lost some of it's juice this has become slightly more apparent. |
