Couple videos from Pinks All Out
Top Fuel Car pass - 3.98@302mph Wheelstand Malibu beats Grand National A few weeks ago (04/25/09), SPEED Channel, headquartered right down the street, brought their show Pinks All Out to the brand new zMAX Dragway (also right down the street, lol). I'm not the biggest drag racing fan, but they put on a hell of a show. 450+ cars showed up and ran for two days straight. Saturday was the day of the taping and qualifying. All in all, 64 cars were chosen instead of the typical 32. Reason being that since zMAX is the only drag strip in the world with four lanes, SPEED Channel wanted to use all four of them. They ran eight races of four cars each with the winner knocking out three cars at once. Unfortunately my camera ran out of battery just as the final group crossed the finish line, so I didn't get any of the Top 8 car races. I didn't take many pics... But Greg Biffle flew up from Talladega to run his 800hp Kenne Bell'd GT500. Ran a 10.15@140 later in the day. I'll post a vid of that pass later. ![]() ![]() And the top fuel car (at the end of it's burnout - just past the 1/8th mile scoring beams).

so whats the point of having 4 lanes... in those 4 car races what if someone crashes and goes over the center wall.. id be afraid that i have to worry about 3 other cars while racing. it looks cool though.

I don't know why they built four lanes. NHRA doesn't use all four. They don't run all four for test and tune. So maybe it was just a publicity thing. Bruton Smith has a pretty big ego. The main road that runs from highway 85 to the speedways used to be called Speedway Blvd. Now it's Bruton Smith Blvd.
Plus, if you're fast enough, you shouldn't have to worry about the other three cars.
