Well, the "do it right while the motor is out" bug has come biting.

I ordered a 3" down pipe with O2 bung today and I will be sourcing a wideband as well. That way it saves the hassle of the BITCH of an install on the dp, and I can get a tune and put the SAFC to use. Making Sonic with the car is kind of iffy, but I'm not going to rule it out yet.

I just read the whole thread. Go luck with the build. Couple of comments if you don't mind. I would personally go with the cometic gasket and ARP studs. Who will tune the ECU? I am pleased with ATS's service. You can call them anytime and they will be happy to anwer questions and point you in the right direction. Too bad they are in Texas as I would probably hand out at the shop for free (well maybe). Is your turbo water cooled? How do you like the N1. Almost purchased a used one but we changed our minds at the last minute. Can't wait to see it!! I took the deuce out today to see if I stopped all leaks finally. Car runs great.
Nothing like putting a lot of hours into the project with the headaches here and there eventually stepping back with satisfaction.

Yeah, after all that iffy stuff, I did purchase the ARP studs and Cometic gasket. The ECU will probably be tuned by ATS for sure. I trust them, but it won't be for a little while. The turbo is not water cooled. The intercooler is air to water, but the turbo itself is oil cooled only.

I personally love the N1 exhaust. I think it's the best sounding for a single exit. thank you for the wishes.

Anyway. Short update.

- motor is disconnected. Ran out of time last night, but the motor will be out and apart tomorrow night. Very anxious to see what cylinder 2 looks like.
- head goes into the shop Thursday afternoon and the rebuild begins with hopes of still making Sonic.

While taking the car apart to prep for motor drop we discovered a lot of rigged ****. Wiring and ziptie galore haha. I can't wait to put it back together and make it look how I want it to look.... clean. But yeah crossmember and axles are the only things stopping us. I have pictures of the progress so far but my camera started acting funny. Hopefully I can still pull them off the card. I also have a video on there of how the car was running when we pulled it in the shop.

While the motor is out, go get some black (or blue) spray paint and paint the engine bay!

Good work! This car is awesome. You should do an air/air IC. I wish i could have my car for sonic, but its just not possible right now.
