Does paypal require a SSN

Do they require a social security # when signing up?

Reason Im asking, is I have a collector (NCO) calling me about money owed. I closed out my paypal account over a year ago. Well within that time someone that purchased from me on ebay issued a chargeback with their credit card and kept the merchandise. I never got word of this since I closed out my ebay acct too.

Now NCO collections (who handles collections for paypal) is calling me. They called last week and like a dummy, I asked for more info about the charge and gave them my address. They said they would mail out info in 2 days, haven't recieved anything. I just got a call from them today but hung up.

If they don't have my social, then this can never hit my credit. I'll tell em to F-off.

Hmmm, I don't remember if you put your ssn in, but I'm pretty sure you put a bank account in. They might be able to trace you through that.

They don't ask for your SSN unless you want that withdrawal limit lifted off of your account. I never added mine because I don't trust them, so my account is restricted to only being able to withdraw a certain amount of money per month.

Paypal is the biggest scam in the world. There is NOBODY regulating them. They are NOT a bank and have no restrictions regulating them like a bank has.

If I do use them, I transfer the money to my legit bank account immediatly after receiving it.

Same. I only trust them to a certain extent.
