Go-Karting

took some pics sat night at the Mid-Atlantic Grand Prix in delaware while me and my roommate were there with some people. the lighting sucked and so does iso 3200 but oh well. only editing was a batch that did noise reduction and bumped the shadows a little so some of the colors are off too. heres a few of the pics

I like 1 & 6 most, nice especially considering the light in there. Panning isn't just for effect, haha. Clean 3200 ISO, I'm assuming 70-200/2.8?

They top out at around 40 on the front and back straights and handle amazing, they are full on Sodi racing karts with very soft compound tires that grip like hell once they come up to temperature. They generate probably dam near 2 g's of cornering force and it's a hell of a work out in the 20+ lap heats. After a few heats you start to feel it and then the next day you really feel it.

haha yea, the lighting was terrible, it probably wouldnt be as bad if we went during the day since it has a lot of windows down the one side. these were with the 70-200 and with the 85/1.2

I think my license expired from mid atlantic, but the last couple times I went it was fun as hell. those things grip so hard thru the corners but don't have much low end power to get you going, which is the challenge in my opinion. just brake later than others and try to get the inside and you should put up a good fight. I did a 40 lap heat with like 6 other people and your arms, wrists, neck, and shoulders take a toll. it's great fun though.

the pics came out good, it's gotta be tough trying to pan those things though. were you behind the glass in the waiting room or on the track?

yea the panning was tough but not too bad. it was hard just cuz they were never really moving that parallel to where i was standing so a lot had more blur than others on the kart. i shot these from that corner of that track inside they let you stand in. it would be great if they had areas all around the track for people to watch or take pics

Nice. I tried taking shots at Lehigh Valley Grand Prix up near Allentown, but I gave up and decided to just drive. Haha. I think the lighting is even worse there. Even at 3200 ISO I couldn't get any faster than 1/15 at f2.8.

its probably Lehigh Valley Grand Prix. i just went there a few weekends ago and had a blast. new facility and i like the track layout a little better than Mid-Atlantic's but they use the same exact Karts.
its a very good time...i would recommend it to anyone if you havent done it. however, if your weak in the stomach you might want to reconsider cause these things tear you up physically. after my 3rd heat i was feeling sick.
