You can make your 8.8 just as strong as a 9 with 32 spline shafts.

lol...you american muscle guys talking about how many inches you have

it's all about JDM letter and number combinations
i'll put a 1JZ in a MA70 with an R154 then put a big GT42R on it then get some 272 cams and maybe upgrade to a 1.5JZ to help with spool and torque
