Exclamation Computer Help!!!!!!!!!!

Ok so me and my cousin are trying to his hard drive to my pc to get his files off of it, because his computer wont boot up Windows Xp. When you go to boot up from his hard drive you get a blue screen and then thats it. So where trying to connect his hard drive to my motherboard as a slave, but nothing comes up it doesnt even recognize it and i've already messed with the little white jumper. HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

Also, did you go into your BIOS and let your computer know it has another drive attached?

its fairly simple but sometimes little things make it a complicated process. go to best buy and buy a external usb enclosure, use it for what you need then return it, should make things a whole lot easier for you


just my two cents if its being a pita for ya..

it could be a filesystem problem.... i have ontracks data recovery suite. i have recovered data in the raw before. if you want you can drive the thing over and i can help you if you bring like 20 bucks.

if not then use a usb enclosure to rule out the possibility of a bad jumper setting or bad controller. run chkdsk /f /R (driveletter) to check the FS.

We already tried that with Ubuntu and it didnt come up, the weird thing is it will go to load windows so it is working and spinning and you can hear it. But where going to take my harddrive back to his house make it a master and hopefully that resolves thing because his will be slaves and we should be able to get all the info he needs out..
