any plumbers on here???

Having a few issues with the kitchen sink. I tried fixing it, but it didn't do much to fix the problems.

If anybody on here is a plumber and can help out for a discount, I'd greatly appreciate it. Before I go spending top dollar on getting another plumber. Damn they can be expensive.

well we just moved into our house a few months back. It had a drip when the handle was in normal off position. You have to put it way off to the side for the drip to stop. Then I took it off and checked the washer, and checked the setup in the on/off handle. The ball in the handle wasn't seated properly, so I made it straight and expected that to fix the problem. Now, it still has the drip, and you still have to push the handle way off the side to make it stop. In addition to that now, no matter which way you position the handle, we get no cold water. loll It might be cold as soon as you turn it on but then it gets hot. No matter which way you move the handle it remains hot.

so in short...i have a drip, and no cold water to the kitchen sink.

Damn man, I don't know about that. I'm going to school for my plumbers license, but I've never heard that before. Good luck trying to fix it.

yea, it kinda stumped me too. It probably still is an easy fix, but I am no good with plumbing and don't want to make it any worse by "winging it" lol.

Yeah, I think it would be easier just to replace the whole faucet.

I would have suggested the same.

Just bend over a little further, then you'll be a professional.

When you remove the handle and take out the ball-stem piece there should be some little rubber cups inside (not inside the ball, down in the body of the faucet) with little springs behind them. You can dig them out with a small screwdriver or a bent paperclip or whatever will snag them out of there, make sure you get the springs out too. If these cups go bad the faucet will leak. If its a popular brand of faucet, moen, delta, etc. You should be able to go to home depot and get a replacement kit to for the cups/springs.

As far as getting hot water out of your cold side, this could also because of those cups inside. If not, check your angle stops under the sink (the little valves that turn on/off your cold/hot water).

Ive been in the field for 10yrs, although 80% of my experience is with exterior stuff, if im way wrong then ask 95nracer.......I'm sure he knows interior stuffs more than me.

I do plumbing and I would recomend doing what sesolcSTI, with that issue its usually the washers that are bad and causing the problem. But it all depends on the type of faucet it is and everything.

thanks guys!! I do remember seeing the little springs, but i just put them back after I adjusted the ball correctly. I thought because it was askew, that may have been the problem...not the case. I don't know the brand, but I will check and go get the replacement kit. The cold water is not turned off under the sink, I know that much. I hope it is the washers, that would be sweet!

I would replace the whole faucet, but i have spent a buttload of money this week, and it would have to wait until after the holiday. a good faucet set is not cheap.

Thanks again guys!

Its a bad cartridge. My wife works for a plumbing company. If you could find out the brand and it happens to be moen, delta, or kohler, they have lifetime warranties on most products. So all you have to do is call the 1-800 number and get it for free. If you post a pic of the faucet, my wife could probably tell you what it is.

it's a kohler...not sure of the exact model though, but i'm pretty sure it's a few years old- not ultra modern.. I went to Lowes and Home Depot and they had the repair kits for Delta, Peerless, Moen, etc...NOTHING FOR KOHLER except complete new faucets..lol I searched online and it seems repair parts are a pain in the ass to get for Kohler faucets.

This blows. I am going to check for the paperwork, hopefully the previous homeowner left something pertaining to the faucet so I can identify the exact model. Then I'll call Kohler direct if I have to.

I would look harder on line, I know the kit can be found on line or at least direct you as to where to get the parts. I would definitely see if Sincere's wife can help you first, may be able to get you a good price.
