False, you haven't looked around enough. Do yourself a favor, drive down West Chester Pike, going East, about 3-5 minutes you will find Racquet Club apartments. They have decent 2 bedroom apartments, with 20 ft balconies, an extra "office" room, huge living room, decent sized dining room and kitchen with a bathroom thats bigger than yours from the pics. Heat and hot water are included in the rent starting around $832 a month. Do yourself the favor.

They also have 3 bedrooms, I think in or around the 1200 range. They kept up nice, friend of mine lives there and she loves it.

I looked there, they don't allow dogs and when I toured it, it smelled weird.

If it was a recently off-lease unit, they steam clean the carpets and repaint all the walls. Could have been that smell, which is weird when mixed together. IIRC, they have a dog fee.

About a month ago a pipe burst above the bathroom and water came through like niagara falls, which caused a good two inches of water on the ground. He fixed the pipe, but not the concave plaster ceiling. After repeatedly calling and bugging him, the ceiling collapsed..when I had just got out of the shower and left the bathroom 30 seconds before. I wish the plaster would have taken my ass out so I could have sued..
Does anyone else have a horrible landlord??? I just want to punch him in the face.
Im not sure about PA but in Jersey, in some cases, there is nothing you can do. If you were to take the landlord to court, he could technically say that when he rented the house to you, he had a co, which means it was inspected and was deemed fit to live in.
Im not trying to be against you or anything but just bringing up a different side of the story.

It seems that some of you have forgotten that this thread is about landlords. Now that I have deleted over 100 posts I will remind you once, nicely, that if you dont have anything on topic to contribute with you shouldn't be posting here.

Wow, talk about off topic haha, this thread was outrageous

on topic: I don't live in an apartment but, I'm lame and I watch like Judge Joe Brown and Judge Alex when I get bored..and people are on there all the time suing their landlords or ex-landlords. It's a bit crazy, and I'm kinda glad I don't live in an apartment. It just seems like too much to deal with. My friend was moving out of her apartment and buying a house with her boyfriend and her landlord went nuts and tried to convince my friend to stay...scared her into it. It wasn't a yearly contract, it was a month to month thing - but this landlord went nuts and tried everything she could to prevent them from moving out into the new house.

our landlord is pretty cool, he and his partner (they're gay) live in the house behind ours, but he rarely even comes by unless he's working on the house; they've pretty much remodeled the place in the last couple years, in the past few months I've gotten a gas fireplace, retaining walls built, back yard completely landscaped (and he runs a landscaping business which does AWESOME work), new sidewalks poured, and my driveway was just repaved last week.

I also put my trash out with his which saves me a bill. We get along just fine... oh, and since his partner is chef for Godiva, we get some pretty awesome chocolate once in a while.

I've had a couple crappy landlord situations, but they were all because I was living in an apartment complex which were run by companies so complaints were slow to be assessed and I was threatened by one of them to be taken to court (via official document) for being late on my rent ONCE by about a week.

Where was the complex that Bil lived? Didn't they allow dogs there?

I've walked out early on a couple leases and the landlords threatened to take me to court but they never did. It's easier for them to find another tenant instead of having an apartment sit empty for a couple months and not collecting rent.

Luckily, I don't have a yearly lease, it's a month to month thing. So whenever I want to leave, I can.
