There's a bunch of camera boys on here, so maybe you could give me an idea on how much a used Sony A350 w/ battery and 18-70mm should be going for. I'm looking at picking one up and found one for $400. Good deal?

why not go with canon or nikon? there is a better market for lenses and your paying the same price anyway

That's not a bad price actually. I was a huge Minolta fan and I've been wanting to get a Sony since it will take my lenses but I haven't been impressed with the reviews as of yet. Well excep that Liveview system is bad ass. For 400 though you'll be hard pressed to find a better camera.

you can find a used canon xt or xti for just over $400. nikon d40's are around the same i think. And like stated above it they have more lenses and accessories. which may be helpful if you persue this furthur.

Isn't the D40 one of the Nikons that doesn't have the AF motor in the camera, you have to get the lenses equipped with it?

Asking out of curiosity because I am trying to decide between Nikon and Sony

yes, d40 and d40x have no in camera focus

but as stated get a nikon or cannon used, wide lens options esp used

check out allens camera in langhorne, other than that, if you check photography forums you can find some deals.

photography on the net is a canon forum. they have a FS section.

Alright, I found a Xti for 350 that i'm picking up tomorrow. But it's just the Body. Any Canon people near philly willing to come with me with a lens to make sure everything checks out? Around 6pm in S.Philly.

your basic lens...nothing special. This would be my first dslr so i just want something that'll produce nice pictures but not too fancy.
