being that your registered on a car forum, you understand what a transmission does. I'm driving on the same clutch that I learned on and it's still fine. Ask a buddy that drives a
Stick to show you and you'll be fine. Manual is not that difficult at all

LOL, yes I will buy 3 of them in all different colors while I'm at it as soon as I hit the lottery.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone..I will have to start my search. I know it's not "hard" to drive manual, but do you know what I mean when I say I'd rather have a cheap car to possibly screw something up by bad driving rather than a nice car to screw something up in? Lol.

I'd rather have a quality built manual transmission to learn on than a POS transmission...

i learned on a supercharged ford focus - incredibly easy. then drove a 98 mustang gt which was so easy it was like a joke... i could even ghost ride it (put it in gear, and get out of the car and dance lol, without stalling it) and umm then i didn't drive stick for 6 months and bought an evo - didn't have any issues with it.

idk, i'd say getta cheap fox body or something to learn on, 8 cyls are easy to drive and hard to stall, IMO. you can start it in 3rd if you wanted to and jump all over the gears, in any order, really.

agreed!

I learned in my dads old 83 dodge ram, 1st gear was a granny gear so as long as you were onflat ground you could just let the clutch out at idle and it would start rolling, even on hills it was nice becuase there was a lot give and it wouldnt start rolling back quickly. V8s will also teach throttle control real quick so when you hop in that little civic youll be shifting so smooth itll feel like an automatic.

I'm in the same boat as you buddy, I'm looking to buy my first stick shift in 6 months or so. I'd rather learn now and be ready for it. If my boss wasn't to cheap I'd ask him to teach me quickly one day, that or ask my uncle since he drives a POS Chevy thingy. Who wants to teach me, I'll slip you a Mr Lincoln

WTF? No. Two of my best friends and one of my brothers have already asked me to teach them. I told them all no. Call me greedy, I don't care. It now has some kind of upgraded (stage 2? I don't even know) clutch and I'm not teaching anyone unless they're down to buy me a new one.

i learned stick in an 1986 ford pickup. over the years, ive had all stick cars except one. but its really easy once you get the hang of it. its just like riding a bike. you'll never forget. i agree with most of the guys on here, get a cheap old econo car and learn on that.

lol Jacki I wasn't going to ask it's okay I wouldn't ask a stranger to teach me how to drive in their car, I'd feel bad if I ground a gear or something..or whatever the term is.

I drove Jack's Evo once.....in 1st..continually around an industrial park. I got the okay to shift but didn't. I drove a 4cyl Nissan pick up truck but..I had major stallage like 5x in a row..and then eventually got the hang of it. But I never left the parking lot lulz

im 17 and learned in my mom's mini cooper s.. as long as you understand the concept you will be fine ive only stalled 3 times since i learned and 2 of the times it was on the first day.. it really doesn't matter what you learn in just go to a deserted street with flats and hills and as long as your not jumpy or dumping the clutch you will be fine.

My poor car was SCREAMING to get out of first. You probably did more damage not shifting than n00b shifting.

J/k, you didn't get past 10mph. Fail.
