I'm not trying to be a downer dude, but trust me when I tell you, you are not going to find one anywhere near $15K that has already been legalized. Period. It doesn't matter how long you look. If you could buy a legalized Skyline for $15K, everyone would be driving one. Stick with the FD. I just don't want to you to get screwed.

you still have to re-register everything in america, its not easy. save your money and buy a usdm FD and do a nice build. no need to have RHD. You'll pay thousands just to get it registered properly here.

importing anything from japan is not easy at all. The DOT specs are completely different.

Yeah FD's aren't the most abundant of cars. You're going to be looking for a little while to find one on Craigslist. How about FD specific forums in the "for sale" section?

FD's are a lot of work just to let you know. If all you have is 15k I'd say don't buy one. They need ALOT of money thrown into them, trust me I own one. Also remember that the engines don't last so long and depending on how your tune is and how much boost you run you could be looking at a new engine as soon as 40k miles. That doesn't include everything else that fails on a 15 year old car. Not saying you shouldn't buy one, just be aware they cost ALOT to keep on the road.

Oh and mine has leaked every fluid ive ever put in it haha. Oil, Coolant, windshield wiper fluid, gas... so many leaks!

Actually you can import a skyline legally...its either the R32 or R33, which no one really want's anyways.

And the motorex story short: They possibly "fudged" the paperwork for the R34's which pissed off the goverment so they said no R34's until they are older then the year restriction.

Just looked, its the R33. You can import an R33 and have it conformed to US standards. Don't believe me? Take a looksee for yourself!

Paperwork aside, I'll believe it when I see someone import an R33. And even if it is legal, you're probably looking at an extra $10-15K for importation and legalization.

The paperwork you quoted has limitations on the Skyline which I dont think will allow any to get through. The way I understand it they will allow importation of up to 32 of them total, "based on a petition from the manufacturer or registered importer which establishes that the vehicle has safety features that comply with, or are capable of being altered to comply with, all applicable Federadal motor vehicle safety standards."

To me that means that either Nissan or a registered importer (are there any in the US?) would need to ok it... and I dont see that happening.

There was MotoRex, but there are no more as far as I know.

From what I have been told, MotoRex literally performed crash tests on R32's and R33's to document the safety of them. However, since MotoRex was proven to use some fraudulent data with the R34's any work they did is now considered null.

I am gonna give you a heads up - dept of homeland security is coming around and repossessing skylines.

Have fun, keep it on the DL.

Motorex only crashed '94/'95 R33s (aka OBDI) and use the info to R32/R34 chassis's.

The only skylines still legal are the motorex cars or stuff imported prior to the **** hitting the fan.
