Is this supposed to be good? I used to play 40k back in the day when I was like 11.

Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be like Age of Conan. Which had massive amounts of hype, but seemed to fall short once released. So far though, Warhammer does look to be quite fantastic. I thought about grabbing it, but it's those God Damn monthly fees that make me keep saying no.

eh, $15 for unlimited game play... get bored.. play it... i normally don't buy a game unless there is replay value, or it is a long game... so RPGs are generally in... i like FF games b/c they generally take 80ish hours, and at(now) $60 a piece i need to get more picky...

so yeah, i preordered the collectors edition of warhammer online to get into beta... cost $100... $15 a month for say... 10ish hours a week... probably way more in the beginning...

over the course of a year, including initial purchase, is $280 bucks. an average of 40 hours a month playing, is 480 hours a year... the game is costing me approx 58 cents an hour to play... just about every other form of entertainment (save jerking off) costs way more per hour.

Obviously, i'm not taking into account electricity or the cable internet charges... but i have a feeling it'll still be cheaper than most forms of entertainment.

why, because I did a little simple math?

I make the same considerations when I purchase games for the 360... which might be why I only own 4 games...

agreed on the whole $60 concept. I used Gamefly for my consoles (360 and PS3). Best damn $20 a month ever. There are so many games I get that I thought would be great and turn out to be **** in a box. So, i just put it back in the envelope and send it back. I agree that the monthly fees usually aren't too bad considering what you are getting. My problem is I never really stay with it that long. I have Guild Wars and have played that off and on for a bit, I tried WoW but ended up getting bored and stopped paying. How is the Beta shaping up? I know on a game of this scale there are ALWAYS going to be bugs, especially at launch, but anything seem like a show stopper yet?

oh, and if you feel like added me, I am u Joint on the 360.

Not sure how beta is going The servers for the pre-order people are not set up yet...

I'm taking a big chance on liking this game... I've been a fan of the warhammer games for over a decade now, i started playing 40k back in 2nd edition, Necromunda, etc... never got into fantasy as I didn't like the rank and file sqauds. But I always enjoyed the "history" in the game.

I got bored with WoW after about 6 months... I never got past level 16-17 either.

Warhammer Online is promising a different PvP game play experience as well... calling i RvR, or realm vs realm. Guilds can take fortresses for themselves, the realm combat means something... i'm still a little confused as to how things are set up.

It appears that the only way to battle players of the opposing faction is by taking part in the RvR dungeons/battles/etc... meaning, unlike WoW, you won't be running into PC's of the opposing faction while running around.

I kind of like this approach, as it gives me the choice when to **** around with other people... and means I won't get poached while I'm leveling and completing other quests.

we'll see though...

Not sure about that last part, according to PC Gamer Mag there is gonna be pvp on the same server cause some of your quest require you to kill a member of the opposite fraction.

thats what I'm talking about. Unless something requires killing other members... ie quests and RvR (which are basically quests)

but again, lots of speculation since there is a NDA attached to the beta... this is just what things seem like...

ie: unlike in WoW, a member of the opposing faction won't be able to sneak into the other factions zones and kill players while they're hunting

Agreed, that part ticked me off. Trying to level up with a lvl 10 and some lvl 60 comes over and just pounces you. Not funny. I will have to read a little more about it and maybe try it out.

the beta is nuts lots of people a crowded. there is a lot of bugs though with character creation an classes need better details on what they do. the graphics are dialed down so it looks worse the wow.

yeah, i wasn't too impressed with some of the ingame screen shots... but still looked better than WoW's cartoonie imagery.

They do pack the servers though, but that's to force bugs to surface and figure out server load, etc...

i'm still excited... I just can't decide on a race/class...

currently thinking one of the follow:
witch hunter
black orc
goblin shaman
chosen
marauder
