To racepipe or not to racepipe?

Thoughts please... should i throw my racepipe on for atco, knowing that i am tuned for a catpipe? Will it make a difference to the utec?

Hurt tq but help top end?

TIA

Not sure a racepipe will hurt your torque at all. Turbos provides plenty of backpressure, lol.

Besides, torque isn't what makes good 1/4 mile times, lol.

I don't think it should mess with your tune at all. Only way it can hurt is if it causes the ECU to throw a CEL.

this is true... and very possible... not sure if the utec switches it to limp mode or not... that would indeed suck.

can any utec guys speak to that?

Btw, here is the horsepower vs. torque tread if anyone wants to argue that point anymore, lol.

have u ever thrown a cel with the race pipe before? if this is your first time running the race pipe then i would bring a sparkplug fouler with you just incase u do throw a CEL then just attach the fouler to the O2 sensor and reset the ecu and you should be good then. normally it should not throw another CEL but i dunno about your car thats how it was on a couple cars ive work on before including greddy2000civic and Little G's evo

basically it moves the o2 sensor away from the center of the pipe and does a good job of ixnaying the cel. If I were you ash Id put it on now, see if it throws a cel and then go from there.

I doubt it would go into limp mode. Just not exactly sure what will happen. From what I understand the CEL is more of an annoyance on other cars (not subys) that have gone this route.

I have a Utec and I had a test pipe on for a few months. It gave me a cel but it means nothing. This is on an Evo.

i know for map sensored cars.. putting a race pipe in for a catted pipe would yield a leaner o2
