PDA's

My phone is starting to die slowly, (the back is breaking off, etc). I am due to get a new phone in November. So, I wanted to start doing some research on new phones.

I want to know about PDA's. I really dont like the fact that most are mircosoft based..I am leaning towards the ihpone but thats not really a PDA?

Whats the best PDA out there? What are its capabilities? If it matters, I have AT&T Im looking to spend under $500.

Is there anything specifically you want the phone to do?

I have an 1st Gen iPhone currently, before that I had a Treo 755p. And I deal will all of the PDA's here at work, Blackberry's, HTC's, etc. Windows Mobile devices have their pros and cons as do all the phones. It would all come down to what you are looking to get out of the phone and what you want to do with it, and also which provider you are going to be using.

Depends on what ya wanna do with it. I'm still rocking my IPAQ 5550. I use it as an MP3 player for listening to recordings of the Howard STern show. I also run a Nintendo emulator on it. It's pretty damn nice having 900 NES games at your fingertips at all times!

Look up the Blackberry Bold. It's due out in October, that's what i'm waiting to get rid of my iPhone for . It was actually due out in July but keeps getting pushed back bc of issues with battery life and bc cingular wants to promote the 3g iPhone for a bit longer. The Bold is the latest "iPhone killer," but seems like they name a new phone an "iPhone killer" every other month lol.

But the iPhone is great multimedia wise. Its the best when it comes to surfing the internet, watching movies/youtube, listening to music, etc. Just sucks to text with bc there's no physical keys so its super easy to misspell words unless your paying close attention while texting (so no texting while multitasking lol esp driving). And you can't send pic messages, you have to email them to the person's phone email address which can be annoying if you don't know their provider.
If texting isnt important I say go with the iPhone.

If that's all you really need, why not get a Voyager (touchscreen outside, real keyboard inside)? Or if you don't like touchscreens at all go with something like the LG enV2?

idk, Barry loves the keyboard on the iphone, but I absoultely hate it. And after seeing all the problems he's having with the 3g iphone, I would never get one. Anyone who wants an iphone i'd tell them to get their hands on a first generation one. But they still have problems. I just went and got mine replaced bc I was have soooooooooooooooo many problems. The first thing the guy at Apple said was, "I'll replace your phone no problem, but it's not going to solve your problems, nothing will. Apple is having a ton of problems with all iphone and the software, who knows when all of it will be corrected." So basically you'd be buying a phone with known problems that you'd be stuck with.

If you decide against the iphone and the blackberry bold isn't out by the time you go to get a phone, you can't really go wrong with the blackberry curve.

I've played around with the ihpone before. I just dont know if I would like it day-to-day. I may get one and just return it within the 30 days if I dont like it.

Well ill just warn you because you have AT&T...the new iphone is on the 3G network...which was thought to be super but you get alot of dropped calls on it...I had it for 2 days and was like screw it...so i got the Motorola Q global. Love it! I just upgraded to windows mobile 6.1 and its pretty sweet. THey just came out with the Motorola Q silver which has 6.1 pre loaded and other upgrades.
If you do get a iphone or smartphone make you sure get unlimited texting and unlimited internet...its soo worth it...here is a pic of the new Q... the new 6.1 screen and set up is different then the one pictured here...the Q is also on the 3G network but doesnt get the dropped calls the iphone has
Just a lil FYI is the blackberry is more for email than anything and not as mod friendly.

imo i wouldnt get any phone with windows..they are great at first but then get real buggy. phones like the iphone, sidekick, and g1 all use there own OS which is the way to go. since you want to stay with ATT id go with the iphone.
