Soooo who wants a TST License Plate?

The idea started over in an other thread about the not defunked DARE plate. Looking on the PA site about specialty plates I happened to see a Jeep Club I used to belong to, of which you could get a plate for. See Figure A

Figure A.

I then did a little more research and came up with HOW you can get this to happen. See Figure B

Figure B.

http://www.dmv.state.pa.us/license_p...y_plates.shtml

Specialty Plate Program

The Specialty Plate Program allows approved organizations to advocate their interests, charge a fee above the $20.00 PennDOT fee and provides for a distinctive license plate.

Specialty Plates are manufactured in our standard plate colors - blue, white, and yellow. The organization's name appears across the bottom of the plate and "Pennsylvania" is printed across the top of the plate. The 3" x 3" canvas area on the left side of the plate displays the organization's emblem or logo using graphic printing that offers color and intricacy of detail.

Specialty Plates are currently available for passenger cars, motor homes and trucks with a registered gross weight of 9,000 pounds or less. Specialty Plates are not available for motorcycles and trailers.

To qualify for the Specialty Plate Program, an organization must meet the following criteria:

* Be a Non-profit organization;
* Have as one of its primary purposes, services to the community, which results in a contribution to the welfare of others;
* Be based, headquartered, have a chapter or licensed in Pennsylvania;
* Not be offensive in purpose, nature, activity or name, as determined by the Department;
* Guaranteed a minimum of applications (negotiable) before any plate will be produced.

If your organization would like to be a part of the Specialty Plate program please contact Penni Bernard, Specialty Plate Program Coordinator by email at pbernard@state.pa.us for a complete program packet.

Any OG TSTers have any thoughts about this?

it would be a stretch to do. I don't think tst is a legal non-profit. Theres step one.

Do you have to meet all of those requirements? The SCCA to my knowledge is not a non-profit. And does not have a primary purpose of a contribution to the welfare of others.

The non-profit profit part shouldn't be bad. Like I said, a Jeep club that I used to belong too had these plates. Granted there was a membership fee, but at the same time there is an optional "Fee" for the forums. It's just an idea that I think would be nice if we could get off the ground. I am sure with some creative measures all the req's could be met.

Sorry, I'm keeping my black DARE plate. Unless I switch to a SCCA plate. But the new PA plate design (blue/white/yellow) is butt-

Yeah I've been thinking about posting up for a while about this but to be honest I didn't feel like being the one to figure out the charity stuff and get people to signup lol. I would get one but I would be thrilled if I could get it with my sn, I know they don't let you but it would be hot.

I agree with the "getting it going" comment, hah, I was hoping someone would like the idea and run with it.

Only thing I dont like is that you cant have personalized plates with the special ones.

Getting your nonprofit status is not all that difficult.

I wouldn't think so, the ads are made to generate revenue to help run the site right, not go into someone's pocket? Hah, i could be wrong though.

It wouldn't be too difficult. The local Miata guys hold an annual drive to raise money for breast cancer. We hit up sponsors for items, cash, gift certificates, etc - the items are held in a silent raffle that members buy tickets for.

there are tons of different ways to give back to the community (ie food drive, raising money for charity, etc). with the size of the member base here, I'm sure they'd be enough support for a small charity event.
