Any Good Books?
Can anyone suggest some good books?
Today was a long one. Work ran late, but I was able to snatch some killer sunset pictures in the park on the way to the gym. Then I get to the gym and in the middle of my workout they tell me I can't work out in a polo (popped collar), cargo shorts, and sandals. Bull**** if you ask me. I like to rock style wherever I go. Anyway, I was thinking that the perfect end to this day would be to curl up with A GOOD BOOK. Does anyone have any suggestions? I hear sisterhood of the traveling pants is a good read. Maybe something from Oprah's list? |
Battle Royale, but it'll only last you a few nights b/c its an awesome read

I'm a fan of everything by Stephen King -- his older stuff moreso than his newer releases. If you're into sci-fi, psychological-ish stuff and military-ish stuff -- the latter of which I'm really not, which makes it odd that I'm enjoying the book -- I'm currently reading 'Ender's Game' by Orson Scott Card. One book that I read a long time ago that was really striking to me -- maybe cause I was younger at the time -- was 'The Giver' by Lois Lowry. And another good one is 'Watership Down' by Richard Adams. |

when reading in school, it was like i was just reading words, not caring about what thy were saying... just to clear that up a bit. and tucker max is a complete asshole, but at the same time i think its funny reading about his "stories" |
If your into classics; The Sun Also Rises, Hemingway
If you want politics with a spin; Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72, Thompson If you want new age horror/mind****; House of Leaves, Danielewski If you want some dry humor, with deeper meaning; Hocus Pocus, Vonnegut There's a few, get to reading. |
Yeah, I want to give Vonnegut a shot... some have likened Palahniuk's to his.
|
I've only ever read Hocus Pocus, but I have slaughterhouse five, timequake, and breakfast of champions chillin' in my unread pile...

I recently picked up a handful of Charles Darwin's books. I got bored though reading through his journal entries while he was on the Beagle. I'm going to move onto the other books then go back to the journal. |
