keyless entry died need help

ok so I go in to wawa tonight, car locks a bit slow but whatever I'll change the battery monday, come out... nothing, no matter how close I stand or how long I hold the button the car won't open. Normally not a problem but the alarm system is deactivated by that soo.... so I'm sitting at home cursing a lot being worried about my car (locked it pulled the battery and fuel pump fuse) and trying to find anything that will help me. How the **** do I get my car to start up tonight? and according to matt the memory is lost when the battery dies which sounds about par for tonight.

I dont understand... car battery is dead or the battery in your remote is dead? Car is locked or unlocked? What is the issue in detail?

SpEcRv9 04-11-2009 09:50 PM

well if you need to drive it, cant you open the door with the actual key for the ignition while you figure out the issue? or am I missing part of the story..

phate1229 04-11-2009 09:51 PM

sorry sorry
car remote battery is dead
car battery is fine
key unlocked door but the alarm went off and I have no way of disabling it

SpEcRv9 04-11-2009 09:53 PM

well then seems like it would be the remote thats causing the issue? get batteries for that bish.

TROLL 04-11-2009 09:55 PM

Come on mannnn...

Go get replacement battery for the remote

or

Get out the manual for the alarm (in the box or online) and find out how to deactivate it just using the key, because there is a way...

(tip: if its a stock subaru alarm, open the door and cycle the key from OFF to ON three times... that will deactivate the stock alarm. aftermarket alarms will likely have a different procedure, but that type of thing).

phate1229 04-11-2009 10:14 PM

right so key fob that was dead replaced the battery and it still didn't work
key fob that my mom found in her purse after swearing she never touched my keys worked
I'm going to subaru and buying 4 or 5 of these and putting them everywhere

might have to be reprogrammed after a battery change but probably not.
seriously... dont be afraid to look in your owners manual, there are tons of wonderful things in there, like everything you need to know about your keyless entry and how to fix any issues with it.

russiankid 04-11-2009 10:58 PM

So you got it resolved? Most cases there is a simple way of deactivating the ignition kill.

PoorMan'sR 04-11-2009 11:10 PM

haha good to hear your mom had an extra fob, i know i had to reprogram my fob when i changed the battery, subaru genuine parts has the fobs for like 40 i think.

dcnism0 04-12-2009 08:11 AM

if its stock security system you have to go to the dealer if you waited to long to put that battery in it will reprogram itself this happend to my gf the dealer charged her 130$ to reprogram her origional remote and gave her another, if its after market like the others said look at the owners manual or call the support line

russiankid 04-12-2009 12:25 PM

^^ If a car comes from factory with an alarm, most cases it also comes with an instruction manual for that alarm system.

talontyme 04-22-2009 12:15 PM

I'm glad to see you got the problem solved i guessed i missed if it was a factory alarm or aftermarket, for factory the three turns in the door will turn the alarm off,if it's aftermarket there should be a disarm switch.
