any SVX owners on here??

I was just curious as to if anyone on the boards owns a Subaru SVX...I would love to see what some people have done to these cars as they interest me alot...2 downfalls imo are of course the windows but on a black on it looks good and the auto trans. Would love to hear what anyone else thinks of these cars. I don't think anyone on here has ever really mentioned them.

i previously owned a 92 pearl white svx. I loved the way it looked and felt. Heavy ****ers they are and so that makes them kinda slow, but still have some power, they are rev happy and responsive. Mine only had exhaust work, breaks and wheels done. The biggest problem on these cars is the tranny, not only were they all auto but they were always ****ing up. Reason why i had to get rid of was mainly because of the tranny and some electrical issues other then that i'd buy another one. Great in the snow too :)

I figured as much with the weight...and I read that because of the weight, it caused rotor problems also cause subies were never that heavy and this car was ill-equiped rotor-wise. I think this would be an awesome car to get as like a project car to build up and maybe do a tranny swap and turbo...I think that would be insane and would definitly be different...I dont have money to do this all now obviously but it would be nice to think about.

Quite a few people have swapped the WRX 5speed and STi 6speed into the SVX

i would love to know how hard/easy it would be to mate a wrx tranny with this motor and fit it into the car

this isnt something i expect to do in near future...just somethign i would like to do if given opportunity and money to do so...and knowledge haha

I saw a kit that comes with eveything including the gearbox for about $2000.
But I'm sure a thrifty and mechanically inclined person could do it in less.

I think I would have just that guy...lol if I was do want to do that eventually

I would love to get one of these and redo the whole thing and get a wrx 5spd or sti 6spd of course and then turbo it and drop some of its wieght of course...would be a really fun car

So I'm guessing the SVX tranny is not like the "normal" Subbie trannys that fit into just about every single subaru model. I know the H6 is alot larger, so I guess it makes sense the tranny is different too.

that was my guess...i havent done much research on these yet but just getting any info anyone would have off hand...

I know the swap has been done so it cant be too tough...but it is too tough for me haha...another problem would be losing weight in that car...if it was to be gutted and caged cleanly it could lose a good amount but still probably be a pretty hefty weight
