not bad at all for an NA motor.
whats up with the dip at 5200 and 6800?

NOPSTNS 09-05-2007 07:31 AM

hope that suckers broken in by now! dont wanna be seein 7500 on a piston engine with 4 miles on it now do we?!!!!!!!!!

279 for a car rated 330? whats drivetrain loss on a rwd...20%? thats not too bad right?

those dips in the rpm are prolly involving thier crazy valve junk. VVEL i think they call it. im sure it involves that stuff....since valve timing confuses me i will stop my rambling there....

markley02 09-05-2007 07:36 AM

It was the VTECH kicking in.

well that all depends on the break in strategy you believe in. I happen to subscribe to the "hard" method :P

As do I Dave, Ill swear by it. So these new motors rev even higher than the old ones? I remember the big deal they made when they bumped the 350Z to 7k now they are passing 7500?

Yep, the 2007 G35 Sedan and 350Z now have the VQ35HR, which redlines at 7500rpm's. The VQ37VHR has the same redline, but has larger displacement, higher compression ratio (11:1 vs 10.6:1), and uses VVEL.

Nice! My 04 Coupe made about 255 whp......nice!

SleeperGoat 09-05-2007 11:17 AM

It's deffintly not my car i'm not fan of the new G37 but i knew some of you would like to check it out. There's a shop in cali that bought it to do the Greddy TT kit on it, the VQ Computer has 3 base maps all depending on how you drive it so it can be brokin in many different ways i think. I know there's a map for those who drive normal which changes the MPG an how it responds there's also to aggressive tunes on it too not sure which way you drive the car puts them in. I wasnt told till this weekend that your suppose to take the battery terminals off one a week to let it reset an relearn or maybe thats what some do idk. But i'll keep ya posted on the TT kit going on it as they do it it just started this past weekend i think the VVEL is going to be a problem for them but i'm sure they'll figure it out.

your 04 G35 made 255 to the wheels??? How much work was done to it? We have an 05 that hangs with us that only made 241 an it has a good amount done to it.

ozthunder 09-05-2007 11:48 AM

Yea..it's not bad, but its not too great, either.

05Accent 09-05-2007 11:55 AM

sounds nice.. power seems to be ok.......?

SleeperGoat 09-05-2007 12:01 PM

It's so freaking heavy though whats the weight of GTO cause i mean this thing is on the 4k bench mark.

ozthunder 09-05-2007 12:03 PM

My car was roughly 3700lbs. I've sorta been on a weight reduction spree, so I may be around 3650 w/o driver lol.

What's the weight of that? Because I tell you what..if its anywhere near the weight of mine, you're looking at prolly a 0-60 in mid 5's and a quarter mile of either high 13's or low 14's.

itouge.com 09-05-2007 12:13 PM

it seemed like that powerband lasted forever

ozthunder 09-05-2007 12:16 PM

I've found weights around 3600 lbs. So it shouldn't be too bad..
