my insurance probs....fell free to advise...
some of u kno the story but its been updated....
yeah so when the hail came thru my area it wicked wrecked my car. 90% of the damage is to my hood but the other 10% is EVERYWHERE else....long story short i called gieco and they came out and quoted my car for 2500 in damage. i have a 500 deductible so they cut me a check for basically 2k. they told me they had to make the check out to a two party system bc i dont OWN the car. i make payments to beneficial savings bank and therefore they have to write the check to me AND the shop fixing it....well....i just wanna take the $ buy a hood and save the rest.....so this is the problem... i got a check for 2 grand sittin on my desk for the past month. at last weeks meet at freshworks i meet officer ben and hes like, what the hell u talking about, the bank doesnt need to do that, go ask for a check in ur name bc they can do that,..... my fellow technician co worker's dad works for a body shop and he said i can just go to my bank and deposit the check into my account.... went to the bank and they said no, the shop has to sign off on the check.... so what the hell is going on? how am i gonna get this money? id just spend 500 of it on a hood and then keep the rest.....whats the deal? |
I went through the same thing. Geico Sucks big time... Just see if youcan buy an aftermarket hood through the body shop and then see if they will cut you a check for the rest.
When my RX-7 was crashed by a friend of mine, geico gave me 1000 to buy 2 new rims. But I just wanted the money, so my body shop just cut me a check for 1000$ |
Check cashing place....you lose a few buck but at least you'll get the cash monies to order your hood.
|
i went through the same thing. they cut a check to me and the bodyshop. but a friend of mine fixed the car so the bodyshop used the money for materials then they wrote me a check for the difference so i could pay the guy who fixed it.

|

good one, haha |
weird...my wife just got hit last week. We got a check in her name...no bank.
|
maybe you should just get it fixed and not commit insurance fraud.
|
It's not insurance fraud. You are not obligated to fix the car.

Quote:
If you don't own the car, the check is supposed to go to the person who the car is regisetered to and the body shop its getting repaired at. If you don't own the car they can't you a check cause it's not your car but since you are financing it they will give you a check if they know its being repaird. Now, all insurance companies don't follow that rule cause most of them don't care but some do. Bottom line, they are not bull****ting you, its perfectlly legal. |
damn.....ok, ill go to the shop and have them sign off on it.....im having that check voided and they r gonna rewrite me a check to MY works body shop....they will sign it and ill get my money.....
that is not insurance fraud....i dont HAVE to have it fixed...and im replacing the hood so that IS fixing it......and if i was doing somethin illegal would i go online and announce it world wide to a site that we all kno is scanned by the police? |
