It has begun...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...install001.jpg
Cooling fan control mod. Mmmm...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...install003.jpg
All sorts of harnessy goodness.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...install004.jpg
In-line ECTS modification. No leaks, only about 10 seconds behind engine. Very effective.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...install005.jpg
Secondary IAT. Currently ghetto'd still, but will be installed into intake when I take the time to drill out the hole.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...install007.jpg
Makeshift vacuum T out of NPT barbs. No leaks! Works really good. Teflon'd.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...install006.jpg
Wiring almost completed, vacuum lines in, WBO2 unit relocation in progress, in progress of turning over the car to see if MS is reading the current car config. (notice the injector bank wires over by the door aren't in. They are now. Car runs on the MS.)

And just cause I can, my buddy's teaser mockup that will be going in his second car:

I love how no one comments on MY car, but instead my friends.

It's not that tiny, actually. That's a T04e .68 with a .48 turbine. Should spool fully by 2500 and have full breath up to the 7k rev limit.

Looks good...so your doing your OWN standalone?

I'm confused...

Lot of work and it's not exactly a learning curve, but a learning SPIKE.

But it's well worth it. I'm running a base tune right now. My partial throttle feels insane, and my top-end being a little more lean is disgusting at ease-in 4th, but my WOT sucks hard. Needs some more tuning, but I gotta wait til I fix my wideband. (Burnt out a 10ohm resistor in the LD02 display. Booo...)

eviltalon 07-04-2006 11:44 PM

Looks like alot of hard work.........good luck.

SpendOne 07-04-2006 11:48 PM

Yea the Mega Squirt is definately a pain in teh ass. Ive looked it up before for teh fact it was cheap. I definately didnt want to sit there staring at wiring diagrams to peice it together. I would of went nuts. All in all, looks good though!

That honestly isn't that hard. As most people ahve seen, I built this one myself, and as you can see, we wired it in in probably an hour or so. It's not horrible, just need a DVOM and a pinout from your PCM.

james_ls 07-04-2006 11:49 PM

So is it a tuning method or something else.

MEGASQUIRT?? What kinda name is that??

My only issue with it is that my 3rd gen saturn ECU doesn't put out a tach signal on crank, so I have to play around with some things to get it to turn over.

I'm running off of a quad priming pulse right now and letting the afterstarts pick it up on the kick over from 2 fires. Makes it start up like an old beater, but once it catches it's smooth.
*wreetreetreetpafoom-miss-miss-miss-pafoomfoom-miss-braaaaammm-idle*

It'll get fixed when I swap ECU's in a few months. The 98 and under saturn ECU's generate tach signals during crank.

seems like a lot of work for the results. but compaired, you save the money and you get the experience and learn how everything works

BlackBulletTSi 07-05-2006 08:17 AM

sick dude can't wait till that things ready

1988 Olds 07-05-2006 10:20 AM

Looks Good Clint. I love how neat your work is.

Where is it?

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...install009.jpg
Oh, there it is.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...install010.jpg
So many friggin wires...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...install011.jpg
WBO2 as it sits for now. I'll fix all the wiring hiding and stuff when I resolder the unit. Blew out R2 because I grounded out the LD02. Still sends signals, but the digital outs don't work. =(

turbo4g63 07-05-2006 05:59 PM

i think it will be cool...b/c it will totally be sleeper..nobody has them, at least that i've seen, and you are doing it yourself....props

StreetEG 07-05-2006 08:30 PM

Just before I ask my question, I want to say that I can DEFINATELY appreciate the hard work...and well all have our reasons, so dont take this offensively... but...

why oh why would you do all that work to a saturn? --I guess im looking for what you use the car for, and if you were going to have 2 cars (1 a daily driver) why would you choose a saturn to turbo/ hook up with so little aftermarket support? I dont know much about saturns, but what could they possibly offer?
