The case began in June 2009, when the local council started court proceedings to restrict Alan's contact with the man, identified as Kieron. Alan has been prevented since then from sexual activity, except when he's alone, the Telegraph's report said.

In Britain, the Court of Protection can make decisions for people deemed to lack the intelligence to make them themselves. These people can be ordered to undergo surgery, have abortions, be forced to use contraception — even have life support switched off.

Alan was described as "sociable" but “seriously challenged in all aspects of his mental functionality.” He had been accused of making lewd gestures at children, but no police action was taken, the Telegraph said.

unf**kingbelievable. I don't care how handicapped someone is, "the State" (Govt. of any kind) has absolutely NO business telling anyone what they can and cannot do with their bodies, unless they're infringing upon someone else's rights. If someone wants to procreate (or even just have consensual sex for fun), it's their natural right to do so, regardless of their mental state.

That man, or maybe even both of them, need guidance from fully aware and mentally stable individuals (normal people), but there's no excuse for butting into their lives and outlawing what is a private matter. All of this 'protect you from yourselves' bulls*** makes me sick.

i think the argument is that the person in question is not capable of discerning the sexual requests made upon them and could be construed similarly molestation. maybe he doesnt know what he's doing is wrong but is being coerced into doing it by his "partner".

in regards to the story... this guy is mentally handicap. it shouldn't be illegal for him to have sex, but illegal for other people to have sex with him. it's nearly rape w/ an IQ that low.
