im bringing my buddy mark, i convinced him to run his toyota x runner! he is either in stu or f stock, i dont kno which they will have him in, prolly stu bc he has 255s on all four corners and that exceeds his stock class i think.

we will be there at 8am and will be there ALL DAY....
fyi, my trans is broken as of 5 hrs ago and im runnin anyway, thats how hardcore i am!

lets have a fun run and no one try to be a showoff please....

slow and steady beats wild n crazy everytime.

EACH CONE ADDS TWO SECONDS TO YOUR TIME. remember that

TROLL 10-28-2007 12:36 AM

how is your tranny broke?

how many more excuses can you add to the thread before the first run is off tomorrow morning?

why is the sky blue?

but while we're at it... i'd like to apologize in advance for overpowering out of turns... its not on purpose. i definitely need more seat time to get used to the car all over again, especially in the throttle modulation area. to make matters worse, and this may be the root of the problem, the 07 STi has a horrible TPS map which is not linear and i dont know if andy adjusted mine to be a little more linear and logical instead of overly aggressive (read: 35% throttle position = 75% power). ok i'm done... frank, want some of my torque?

TalonTsi97 10-28-2007 01:00 AM

Im running a titanium gray Mazdaspeed protege, not my talon. Keep an eye out for me i will try and park with everyone. Really want so good pics of the car so hopefully Tim can hook me up. I was at work since the after noon so i never got to install the mbc or wash the car. Gotta get up early do that and then come over at some point in the mid morning. Cya all there.

NOPSTNS 10-28-2007 01:08 AM

yea bri id love some torque, maybe the trans is only half the prob. i went out to my car 15 mins ago and it cranks real slo and wont fire up, when i finally feather the gas it comes alive and then stalls so i held the gas for 3k rpm till it warmed up and it idles now but sounds really bad.

it all started this mornin mergin onto i95, i was nailin it up the onramp and the CEL started flashin and the engine power severely died out on me. maybe i sucked in water?

whateevr the prob i cant check the code or look at anything till monday so that leaves me bored on sunday.

ill show u the noise it makes when i see ya tomorrow....if it starts at all....

broken trans, blown apex seals, im still runin.....

TROLL 10-28-2007 01:16 AM

do you just need an obd2 scanner cause i can bring one tomorrow...

NOPSTNS 10-28-2007 01:34 AM

well the scanner will tell me the code and what the code means but for real diag ill need a lift, a cold soak, and the M_MDS program i use at work to monitor certain things...like freeze frame data, but id love for u to bring one anyway so i can kno a day in advance what happeend and i can go online to a certain (password encrypted) site and search ahead of time on diag.... the CEL was flashing which means its a serious issue where the emissions of the car is severely out of spec and something is very dangerous happening...

like the fact that it cranks slow as crap cold and wicked fast when hot is weird.(possible low compression)
im thinkin i sucked in water, it didnt compress it, spat it out and then its half dead. adding to my trans probs i already had, its ugliness man....

heres to hopin im on good terms with my warranty administrator!

malloyboy1 10-28-2007 02:28 AM

cant sleep so im pullin an allnighter so i should be there @ 8

i have one to add to the list by the way, hes not a member but w/e its anthony in a 06 wrx tr

TROLL 10-28-2007 02:29 AM

hah you do not want to pull an all nighter. get some sleep... you'll want it for when you're in the middle of all those cones tomorrow!

and frank, i hope your car is ok!

psushoe 10-28-2007 06:57 AM

I'll be up around 11:30. I have some things to take care of in the AM. See you all there!

NOPSTNS 10-28-2007 06:59 AM

well i got up extra early to see if it would start, and it did, so im coming to race, bri u should hear this thing man, it sounds so bad it sounds like the engine is waitin to explode.....

see yas all there!

Troll could you please bring the scanner, i would really like to use it. My cel just popped back on and havent had a chance to check it.
Thanks

alwaysinboost 10-28-2007 07:18 PM

so how did everyone do?

TROLL 10-28-2007 07:20 PM

its still going i think, haha. it got really backed up in the morning and the whole rest of the day ran late because of it. i bounced around 6:15 after barely squeezing in my last run... they let me to the front of the line since i had to leave (thanks!)

i'll post more of my summary of the day shortly but for now i'll just say that i've definitely got to get used to my car all over again, it sure is different...

NOPSTNS 10-28-2007 07:22 PM

yeah mines diff too, now that i got a new engine sound! todays flavor was added by metal particles in my engine oil!

its gonna be a great day of diag tomorow!
yay for me! and my rotor 1 misfire code!

TTsupra911 10-28-2007 07:24 PM

hey just checking in to see how everyone did today. I had a great show both yesterday and today running with the Susquehanna region placing second in Street Mod behind Markus Houser both days. Hope everyone had a great day I can't wait to hear everyone's stories.

TROLL 10-28-2007 07:36 PM

ok well as for the day in general... it wasnt overly cold but the wind made it feel that way. i think everyone could have gone for an extra layer out there. they were having problems in the morning with people going off course and having to do a lot of reruns and just a lot of issues so the 'morning' session went until like 2pm or so. then they took a break for lunch and all and the 3rd heat didnt start till about 3:15. 4th heat which a lot of us ran in started a little after 5 but went pretty smoothly thankfully.

-i saw joe for the first time, and carol for a second. they're both on here but cant recall their usernames. nice surprise...
-i asked a guy with a silver evo if he was from tst since talontsi said thats what he was driving but it wasnt him.
-i talked to eric (paledam) for a bit, his car looks sweet but i dont know if i would have wanted to be in a convertible today.
-saw jeff craven which was kinda cool, he used to drive the crap out of a white wrx for those of you who know him.
-anthony (auk113) came and stood out in the cold in the afternoon, he should have raced!
-ben (dont know his name on here) was real friendly and rode with me on my first run.
-jaime (malloyboy13) was also there, and i finally found out his gf's name, haha shhhhhh. it was his first time autoxing so i'm curious how his last 2 runs turned out.
-frank was there in his borked car, i dont know how he did.
-i saw a black evo with a jnztuning banner but never when anyone was in it.
-i worked the course with a guy who just did a 6mt swap into his 06 wrx... he's on nasioc and i think he's on here too
-tim (vwcorradokid) was there doing some video but he had to leave early :(
and im probably forgetting a few things but thats whats off the top of my head now.

as for me, my first run was a pretty messy 71.x, it wasnt very smooth and i still really needed to learn the course. my second run was a slightly smoother run but i still got hung up at one point and ran a 70.x. third run was decently clean, no major complaints but i could have been tighter in a lot of places and i ran a 69.7. and the last run i just kind of improved a bit from there and ran a 69.4. the times arent going to win any trophies but i'm happy with the steady improvement and think if i had a couple more runs i could have continued shaving off time now that i have the course memorized a bit better.

the car... haha. i dont want to be that guy, but i'm that guy. it was hard to control the power. i'm sure its just going to take a little getting used to but this is the first time i've ever been a little scared to get on the throttle early coming out of a turn. every time i did the car began to oversteer, even if i was trying to be gentle. felt completely like a RWD car, which i am not used to, even after lowering my tire pressure in the rear. i'm sure i'll learn better footwork than i was ever forced to before now that i have so much more torque down low and hopefully i'll be able to use the power to my advantage and not the other way around, but its a wild ride to say the least. traction is definitely an issue and if i was serious about stepping it up, wider stickier tires would be at the top of my list.

well there's my writeup. i didnt get any photos but hopefully there are some to go around. i would have LOVED a video of my car running with the ewg but tim had to leave before i was up. i hear that the crowd by the starting line thoroughly enjoyed it though :)

NickRSwrx 10-28-2007 07:53 PM

I stopped by between 10-11. It was cool to see. Im kicking my self in the ass for not running today but I was busy. I was there when I think the stock cars where going out. Some dude in this POS yellow ford escort was trying to drive, funniest thing ive ever seen! Not sure who anybody was today. We should have designated a meeting spot. I wasnt about to go up to people, "hey are you with tri state!" der-der-der.

Anyway, wish I could have seen some of the turbo cars go. But it was actually cool to see the mini coopers go. I hate those cars but they were really ripping. Saw 2 elises' in the parking lot. Nice. And some sti's, evo's and wrx's.

Anyway we should have a good meet sometime. Let me know when the best meet times are and which one to go to.

S4toSTI 10-28-2007 08:13 PM

I didn't go cause i suck.

PaleDSM 10-28-2007 08:23 PM

Finally got a taste for what AutoX was all about today.

Run1-Got lost, red flagged, and returned to the grid to get an instructor. haha The walk through didn't seem to bad but once I was behind the wheel I was overwhelmed and just saw a see of cones with no direction in site.

Run2-Perry road with me and was a huge help. I drove Miss Daisy but hit every gate and got some great instruction on where to look, when to turn in, etc. Perry made the whole day actually worth while for me. Ran about....oh 94 seconds. I wasn't even trying to drive fast...just wanted to figure out my way through the cones.

Run3-Couldn't find Perry so I went at it solo and just crossed my fingers that what he told me had sunk in. It did and while still pu$$y footing it around I knocked my time down to a 76. Never really went WOT because I was still concentrating on looking ahead and getting a good line.

Run4-Solo again. Still just trying to be smooth but I did improve a little again. Final run was a 73. After this I really wanted to go some more because I was seeing the line and not worrying as much about where to go and more on driving. I am sure I could have gotten down into the high 60s with another run or two. Always next season. It was a ton of fun and I definately want to try it again.

It was cold for a convertable today. :D I love the sounds and experience though with the top down so I just dealt with it.

One of the biggest helps today was getting two rides by an instructor in an S2000. I learned just how aggressive you can really be when you get to know your car at the limit. Just how late you can brake and how early you can get on the gas. Between the instruction and ride alongs I learned a lot today. Can't wait to try again and work on improving more and more.

JNZTuning 10-28-2007 08:33 PM

I had a blast! I'm totally addicted now! Other than cold I couldn't have asked for a better day.

First run out I took it easy to check the track out (also my first auto-x ever)
and ran a 71.762.

Second run I let Perry run my car to a 64.468. Damn can he drive!!!

My third run out with helpful tips from Perry I ran a 67.240.

My last run was in pitch darkness...I ran the car to a 67.669.

I finished second in BSP based on my own times. Not bad for my first time out. Wish I started this earlier in the season.
