no its just a stock jdm p30 ecu. i thought it was the cluster off so i borrowed a cluster from a friend and it did the same thing at first. and now its all screwed up lol. vtec at 4400 redline at 5500. car still runs fine tho. so im guessin the signal is off. what would cause that?

well I have an ex cluster in there. I have a dx body, which didnt come with a tach. what i dont get is how I replaced both clusters and they did the same thing untill this second one started actin really wierd and is all off. i replaced the VSS a few weeks ago with a buddys VSS he had sittin around cause my old one was workin then stoppin. it was actually a little wet inside the connector so i blew it out, cleaned it, and put it in and it worked fine.
im gonna but the old one back in and see if it does the same as this new one redlineing at 5500 and all. has anyone ever had to clean inside the dizzy cause it was dirty? causeing bad signal to the tach? that is where tach signal comes from right?

well heres a little update. went to lunch drove home tach did the normal thing were is only went to 7200. well i got home looked around engine bay for loose connecters etc and saw that i had no ground from the tranny to the chassie. i put on it out of old 0 gauge wire i had and also cleaned the one that goes to the valve cover and the rad support. drove back to work and saw the tach is going a ltlle farther now. it went to about 7500-7700rpms. im gonna go check a few things more after work. anyone have any ideas on 1. why it would make a difference having more and better cleaner grounds. and 2. anything else i should try? other grounds i could be missin?

The tach wire runs right under/near the dizzy but not directly to it. when you take out the cluster what wires are running from it near the tach area?
