Looking to buy a 240 soon.

Are they big on theft like the Honda/Acura Vtecs? I plan on getting one and swapping out the stock motor and tuning it for auto-x and drifting. And plan on DDing it and parking it on my driveway.

yeah dd and drifting dont go good at all, once you start a little before you know it your going through tires like water, my last set of tires lasted 6k miles....
and i dont reallly hear to much about 240's being stolen, but if your swapping out the motor you mine as well rig some kind of fuel switch to hide.

I've had 8. No one ever even broke into them.

Most of them I rarely took the keys out of the ignition.

some were modded, some were stock.

I've heard that in other areas theft is big with them but locally I haven't noticed much.

daily driving and drifting ha, dont expect to become great at either. going thru tires is the last of your worries. ive owned 3 and never had any problems with theft. im sure it all depends where you live tho.

dd'ing a drift car can be done but keep in mind, this takes balls and a good deal of mechanical inclination and a healthy flow of zip ties. I.e. when you drive your **** hard, **** breaks so being able to beat the piss out of it on Sunday and drive it to work on Monday sounds a lot cooler than it actually is hah. I've owned three and had no problems with theft either, so parking it in the driveway shouldn't be a problem unless your sunroof leaks like mine lol. 240's are like potato chips though; most people wind up having more than one so keep in mind they are addicting!

Any of you guys have driven one in the winter? I'm really thinking of trading my SRT 4 for a nice SR S13 or S14, and would be my DD/track car.

driving one in ther winter isnt all that bad... its like driving any RWD in the snow. if you push it too hard or hit the gas mid turn you'll spin. basically if you drive like your supposed to in the given conditions you should be just fine. Mind you if your very low youll just plow tho lol.

I can't emigine they drive good at all in the snow. Most rear wheel drive cars aren't that great, but when you get into lighter cars, RWD gets harder in bad weather.

My GTO is 3800lbs and it can go in the snow with good all-season tires. My g/fs old Mustang with snow tires couldn't and it was arround 3000 lbs.

All I'm sayin is I tried driving my s13 in the snow, and it didn't work. I was on the bypass (literally, flat ground) and I got stuck in the smallest little bit of slush. But then again the car was fairly low on coilovers and ****ty tires. But still! Flat ground!

I've driven 240s in the snow. Never had a problem, with bone stock to 300whp. Think about....back in the 60s and 70s, they didn't have traction control or dsc. Yet they managed.

Jeremy I see you've been lookin for one. You should've bought my gold s14 when I was selling it.

But really though aren't there enough answers to questions like this on the internet?

I drove my 240 300 miles through a blizzard. As long as you take your time and don't be a jackass, it's no big deal. Just slow down. That's really all there is too it. Get some nice all season tires, or snow tires for the rear, and you'll be set. Just pretend that the rear is ALWAYS loose. Cuz it is. ;-)

throw snow tires on it. i loved driving mine in the snow minus the ride height needing change.
