IIRC the 1.8t cats are pretty high flow in the first place so it won't make too much difference in sound, or at least thats what Ive read. I got my DP first and had that w/ stock exhaust and there really wasn't too much increase in sound. now even w/ the cat back and everything my car still really isn't that loud.. my turbo is though lol.I was behind my friends Mustang GT (steeda exhaust) on 309 and he said he could hear me :O

I know the intake material has alot to do with it. An aluminium intake would be louder but holds a lil more heat, I had one on the SRT which is probably why it was so loud. Not to mention the 3" catless dump i had on that car...lol I guess the smaller turbo is spinning faster which makes a lil more noise

You can use a spacer on the 02 sensor to keep the cel away

1.8t with a test pipe is a lot louder then with a cat. my cat had 30k on it when i put my tp on, it was night and day.

for your 05 of keeping it off, with the wide band used as the rear 02, sacing doesnt help, its too sensitive. you're stuck having it wrote out in a tune. at least, we havent found another way

kinda late i kno

That doesn't always work on these cars. The only way to keep the CEL away is coding it out in the software, which would be an option that we can put in when getting flashed.
