Has anyone ever taken percocets? Legally...
I'm depressed, miserable, tired and lazy, I've been snapping at everyone for no reason and saying things I really shouldn't be saying and that's not me. The only reason I can think is it's these pills. I really hate it because I need to take them for the pain because it's that bad. I can't take anything with asprin and l'm pretty much immune to acitaminophen/ibuprophen and all that so there's nothing else I can do. My doctor gave me a liquid form of Vikodin as a substitute but it makes me sick to my stomach and if I throw up I'm risking ripping out my stitches. So I guess the point of this is to ask and see if other people have noticed these mood changes while on percocets and to try to find a solution. I've tried to talk to people about it and apparently I'm impossible to be around right now. I need to vent and just get it all out of my system or something. /rant.

I try to stay away from them, cause you get both constipated and nautious from them after a while. I have about 3 jars worth in my drawer. They are good for quick pain relief (burns, smashed fingers in doors, etc) but I don't like the after-effects.
If you can get anything in liquid form, it'll work faster, but costs more I think. I've had liquid percocet. That's fun. Demerol is good but banned or something. But percocets... I would rather have oxycodine or any type of codine or opium product.

Have you talked to your doctor? I'd call him/her today... there are other options you could switch to if your body isn't taking well to the percocet.

If percocet isn't for you, don't take it. Opiates are great pain killers but they do have other biochemical effects - getting prescribed a batch after a surgery won't leave any damage or stuff like that. You could always switch to strong advil but I don't know about it working as well

depressed tired and lazy seems to be a typical side effect of said drug. snapping at people might just be because you are what was said before : depressed, tired, lazy. http://www.rxlist.com/percocet-drug.htm
unfortunately, many prescribed pain killers like percs or vicoden give many people bad side effects esp. nausea. im sure you've read this though :P feel better

I had my tonsils taken out. I can't just "take the pain" because then I have no way to eat.

a lot of people don't take well to percocet, me included. They def have nausea effects on people. i broke both my arms and they gave me 20 percs for the first few days since i was serious pain. After that they gave me something else, non-narcotic.
Percs have a ton of side effects, but differ for each person i guess.

I was sick for the first 2 or 3 days. Everytime I took one I threw it right back up.

if you weren't immune to ibuprofen, I would ask about getting the prescribed version. I believe I got a high dosage(like 600mg or something) version once from my dentist if i remember correctly, when I got my wisdom teeth out. I couldn't feel much after taking them and you don't really get side effects like the opiate derived painkillers except really tired.
but then again, thats kinda up to body chemistry

Yeah, I've seen people take 10mg and upchuck it if they aren't used how it feels. Just varies from person to person. Try breaking them in half (depending on the type of pill, do you have the round brown ones?) and spreading them out and eating it with food. The more empty your stomach is the harder it hits you; the more you eat before taking one the longer it takes to dissipate.

i would call the doctor, like was said above, there are a **** ton of other meds out there, u just have to get the right one, my buddy took percoset when he was in his car accident and broke his back, and he was the exact opposite, he just wanted to talk to people lol, all he did was talk and was all hyper and what not. but like i said, check with ur doctor, and stop yelling at reese for no reason lol *just trying to make the best of ur situation lol*

iirc that doesnt do anything except make the pill hit you harder or faster because all your doing is breaking the time release cycle that they have on the outside of them... again i could be wrong, but iirc that is all that will happen

No, they're oblong white. The doctor told me to try crushing them in applesauce or whatever I was eating. I tried that and I didn't even swallow it before I was throwing up.

Yeah, I took them after some oral surgery. They knocked me on my ass for 4 days straight.
Then, on another surgery, they prescribed me straight vicodin pills and those were even worse. I got lots of good sleep, though.

perc makes me feel like im sorta drunk, i was taking two at a time when I fk'd up my shoulder they really didn't bother me... but vicodin on other hand makes me sleepy.. do you eat anything? if ur getting sick it may be from that. and when I had 8 teeth pulled, i had a fever of 104 and a bunch of stuff.. not sure why... could just be because your body reacting to what just happened, it's probably trying to go back to normal

I have a similar Non-Reaction to acetominophene and ibuprofen. I also get weird moods when I've been prescribed percs. There was an over the counter pill called Orudus KT (it is a lower dose of Ketoprofen) They took it off shelves because it was too expensive and people were taking too many because the non-prescription strength was 12.5 mg. 1 of the prescribed ones is only 75 mg. Two of those worked for me after my wisdom teeth were pulled. I used to run heavy equipment for a living.... so I told the oral surgeon I couldn't take ANYTHING that made me sleepy. Your family Dr. might be able/willing to write you a script for Ketoprofen if you turn in the unused percs. Good luck.
