depending on the year i have heard of certain cars using different types of modules to control the rear tires and majority of the time a factory posi will spin usually the right wheel, then eventually catch the left one up. I know thats how it is on my 01 1500 chevy....so your probably experiencing the same thing but since your truck isnt used to it, its just creating more problems.
Weld the spider gears together on your old one hahah

Yeah that's pretty much what it's doing, it just sucks when you hit an on ramp at 45mph, drop the hammer and it does a one-legger till 80mph or so while the big rig in the rear view keeps getting closer. I know it's got no rear weight, but even with the supercharger it only makes a tad over 300hp to the tires, and I'm running C6 Vette wheels and tires (285/35R19), I think that should be enough rubber on dry roads to do a WOT accel from 45mph with little or no spin. I'm just concerned with a constant spool it will over steer too much, and weather or not another aftermarket LSD will be the same as what I've got now.

In street driven GM applications, I had a lot of luck with Auburn posi units. They worked well for me.

i beleive the 4x4 posi diffs are different. check out s10forum.com they have alot more people who can give you a hand with this sort of thing and if you want to donate that posi diff ill gladly take it off your hands, i could use a new diff since the garage put in an open rear.
also a 4x4 rear is different size. i beleive they are 57.5 while a 4x2 is 54.5 try going back to the 54.5 axels and see if that helps at all. or did you put in the WHOLE rear assembly????? this will help me out alot. Last edited by tretiak; 12-20-2008 at 02:05 PM. Reason: added text |

I swapped the complete axle, not just the guts. I believe it came out of '02 Olds Bravada that had a front end collision at 18k miles. I got it on e-bay from a guy who specializes is S-10's. My stock axle was also supposed to be limited slip, but is 4" narrower than a 4x4 axle and has 3.08 gears and drum brakes. The added width of the 4x4 axle meant I didn't need wheel spacers for the corvette wheels. Also going to 3.73 compensates for the change in tire size nearly perfectly. Not sure what I'm gonna do with the diff in the new axle yet, but let me know if your interested in the stock axle, it's also an LSD and only has 20k miles on it, may need new brake pads but that's it.

a spool or welded spider gears would be so ballin in an extreme. would that chevy rear and axles hold up to that abuse though? i know the f body rears arent exactly known to be strong... lol
