Clutch Squeaks When Let Out

Hey guys i just noticed a small annoyance today. When I was driving home from school, I noticed that my clutch started to squeak pretty loud whenever I let it out pretty much near where the engine catches.

This doesn't happen if the car is in neutral, only when in gear. Anyways, How hard is it going to be to spray some grease / lube in there and does anyone have any suggestions.

Also: It didn't happen when I drove it out to the store today. It happens when the engine is warmer perhaps. Ill let you guys know how it develops.

Any ideas?

You don't spray any type of oil onto the clutch disc. Those surfaces must be oil free. I would suspect your throw-out bearing.

Thanks. Can I just replace the throwout bearing or am I going to have to buy a whole new clutch? If it's the latter I'll end up buying a stage II clutch.

You can replace just the bearing, but with all the work involved getting to the bearing, you might as well replace the whole clutch.

Oh alright then. Hmm I'll probably see what happens with the squeak and I'll TRY to ride it out until the next audi service mark.

Yeah, russiankid summed it up.

Its only 6 or 8 more bolts to replace the clutch than to replace just the bearing.

its might not even be that mine use to squeak too, have someone push it in and out while you listen under the hood. everyone kept saying it was my bearing but it wasnt... so before you invest lots of money do that, and if it is the bearing, than Russian kids right, just replace everythign
