Someone backed into my motorcycle and knocked it over last night, picked up & left

I come out from grabbing a bite to eat right by my apartment on South St. I had parked my motorcycle behind a Toyota Sienna and left him a couple feet. There were no other cars parked on my other side. I come out and I found a note on my bike saying

"Someone knocked over your bike, picked it up and drove away. Toyota Sienna (Sage Green) License # 220 3600"

I called the police of course. They came out and filed a report. The problem however is that the girls that saw it get knocked over neglected to include their information, and the state of the plate.

The officers ran it for Del (since they have all numbers) and I think PA and probably Jersey. But they said they didn't find anything and I will probably be S.O.L.

The damage is pretty good from having been knocked over at a stand still. My front brake level is bent up, the tank has a dent from the handlebar hitting it, a gash in the helmet from being strapped to side of the bike, and of course an abundance of scratches on the side that hit the asphalt.

How do I find out who did this, there must be some way, right?

TIA!

As a fellow biker I feel your pain but unless you have a good plate number there is not much of a chance that the police will find out who hit your bike. You might want to check and see if any of the stores or bars near by have video cams you never know what you might find.. The truth is nobody was hurt so there won't be much of an investigation by the police.

Yeah I had thought about wondering around and seeing if there were any cameras...but haven't followed through yet. I assume no one checks all possible interpretations of the license plate numbers taken down?

You would think that with today's technology you could plug in the color, make, approx year, and a couple interpretations of how the plate digits written could be read, and the system would cross search every states database and come up with something. Thats just imo.

But thanks for the response, sarge.

It would be nice if we could cross check like that, if only police work was as easy as CSI
