REQUEST: TomTom One 3rd Edition GPS Review?

I am planning to do some traveling this summer and two cruises. I am horrible with directions and can't remember how to get anywhere so I need a GPS unit bad.

I have been doing my homework and I am 99% sold on the TomTom 3rd Edition. I think this unit with the itinerary hack and google map support will do the job just fine. I also like the price, Walmart $169.54. I am not in the market for bluetooth support, mp3 players, video players, or traffic updates so the higher end units don't interest me. I know about the broken units sent from the factory but I will get this locally so that doesn't concern me much. The woman's English accent voice also is a selling point for me. So sexy!

I would like to hear from anyone that currently uses one. I'd like to know your thoughts after using it for a while.

Thanks in advance for you help.

PS. Yes I have read every review on the first 5 pages of google about this unit, so links won't help that much.

I have the tomtom in one of the work trucks. It's a couple years old, and what can I say? It's simple to use, fast, big screen, good signal, and a good "entry level" gps unit. If you aren't looking for any of the fancy options, it's a good choice. However, even though it's a couple of years old, (will be 3 years old in another month), the maps all seem to be almost 5 years old so it doesn't have a lot of newer developments in it.

We also have a more expensive pioneer gps in another work truck, and the buttons are a pain to push, it often takes us on retarded, out of the way routes (even when fastest route OR shortest route is chosen). But it has all of that fancy stuff and the maps are all updated and new.

The tomtom one is great. I currently use one that i got for x-mas. The thing i like about it is that it updates fast. If i miss a turn within a few seconds it finds an alternative route to get to the same location. It also is very easy to use, and with mapshare you can update the maps whenever you want. It really is a great unit for the price. The other big selling point for me is the long battery life. This allows me to take it out of my car say, into a big city Ive never been to before. Overall i give it a 9/10(not perfect because some of the roads it tells you to take can be hard to see at night. It seems to have a thing for small, not commonly used roads)

I have one. Its a good, basic gps. Very easy to use and never got me lost.
The only thing i dont like is that it doesnt seem to have as many points of interest as i like. But thats just a minor gripe.

For 170bucks, you should pick one up asap. Its great to never be lost again or have to deal with printing out online maps.
