maybe the rs sounds different on an evo, but mine sounds more like a rfl than a laser. the type s is the one that has the high pitched noise.

make sure that it's releasing at 0 or +1 psi. don't listen to the noise, watch where it's releasing. and make sure that you test it under load, not just reving in the driveway. you'll get a more accurate setting if you test drive then adjust.

1- the rs doesn't make a high pitches squeel
2- where is your vacuum/boost source coming from?

hks senquential makes a noise like two swords clashing ( sounds like CH-ING ) in an oldschool sword fight movie scene lol i dunno if you have to use oner of the after market inserts they sell for them in order to prodeuce that noise but it deffinately gives what i think is one of the best BOV sounds availible and it also sounds like you would be highly intrested in that one in particular

haha thats exactly how I describe the greddy type S a "nintendo sword slash"

anyways from my experience... getting a good vacuum source really helps with the sound of the bov...
for bov sounds check here

the greddy does make a flutter if you are barely or not boosting. it is perfectly normal. mine did it all the time on my sr20det. other than that it was too loud to hear anything besides the blow off sound.

First, all BOVs need to be broken in. It takes time for the plunger to wear into the cylinder.

2nd, It sounds like your BOV is sprung too tight.

Too tight = compressor surge on light lifts
Too loose = Idle stumbles.

Adjust your BOV by adding shims to tighten it up, removing them to loosen. If you have all shims out and it is still surging, cut a little off of the spring or get a shorter one.

You can always add more shim if you happen to cut too much off. Go slow if you are at this point. Cut a little off, test, until you get it right. This isn't rocket science.

The Greddy valves don't use shims or washers like the Turbo XS type BOVs. Just the adjustment screw. Depending on how much boost you run some compressor surge at light boost lift will happen. You want the valve to have the minimum amount of spring pressure as possible while still holding it shut at max boost pressure.

The recirc fiting will decrease the sound a BOV makes by diverting pressure into the intake, rather than the atmosphere.

GSXDCY, he IS the only Electric Blue EVO on here.

This is StevEvo, I have the RS on my Evo. I did the single spring mod on mine and have it turned in about 4 turns from first contact. Works great no flutter no surge. Holds boost perfectly.

you removed one of the two springs inside the bov?

I would really be worried about air leaking past the bov valve when doing this...

Oh, well i finally found a good sound for it but i just always thought the rs made that high pitch noise...And it is holding boost really well at high rpm's much better then the blitz blowoff...
