NJ Collector Car Registration change?!?
![]() What is one to do? I only drive this car from the parking lot to the race track, the occational sunday cruse, and to car shows. NJ is really killing the automotive hobbist. Its getting rediculous. I'm so tired of just tring to enjoy the hobbie and being forced to be perceived as some sort of outlaw, just because we drive modified cars. Now I know Demitri is a good kid. I know he was just cutting up but there is truth in jest.
Too many people were using this program to beat the system and hey why not if you can have it both ways thats fine. It was a pain in the butt for law enforcement and probably an even bigger pain for the MVD. I haven't seen the new change yet as soon as I get a copy I will post it for you all.

sarge, i'm just tring to relate. no negitivity implied. But how dose a individual with a car that has a exhaust, tints or whatever effect anyone. Remember not all of us are idiotic wreckless, but for some reason we are all profiled. Why? if noise was such an issue, how can motorcycles be sold DOT aproved from a dealer with higher DB out put then most custom cars? If this type of profiling was done to a ethic group there would be all hell to pay, but it's ok to profile a age old american subculture? There are many businesses that live off the hobby, what about the state economy and the 5 billion dollar aftermarked business in the US. What about the enthusiests, the shop owners and the product companies? How dose one promote automotive events in a state where your vehicle technicaly can't even be driven w/o issue on public roadways?
I'm again not tring to be a jurk, i just want to relate, something the automotive subculture hasn't been able to relate to law enforcement and public officals. We are not criminals, I work full time and go to college, I spend all my free money on car parts not drugs, sometimes i choose between food and parts, and i'm sure that represents a large number of us. I'll go hungry if i can find a way to better my car. Wouldn't it be better to let youth invest in their cars, and let them pass their time working on cars instead of loittering or doing drugs and other trouble some activities? Arguably some drive wreckless but again the actions of a few can't be forced to effect the lives of the majority. p.s. today a truck carring heating oil spilled oil on I95 causing a massive accident on turnpike closing it. the accident killed 3. now what do we change laws to ban tankers to drive in NJ highways? today a ambulance in NY was speeding and crashed into a commercial vehicle and rolled over, do we legislate to ban ambulances from speeding to hospitals? I posted the new rules and it seems to me that what they are trying to put and end to is the fraud and abuse that must have been high for the rule change. You make a lot good points on this debate what I would suggest is that you start a thread in another part of this forum get enough suport and push to have the law changed. good luck!
