Wideband o2 Sensor Shootout

Great article on the testing of wideband units:

http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2...tout/index.php

They tested 8 different widebands against each other, Here were the results:

I'm happy to see that my wideband (AEM UEGO) fell into the excellent category under accuracy

Thanks for posting this, I was always wondering how each one of these compared. Im also glad to see the money I spent on my Innovate unit was well worth it!!!

I don't know how accurate there data was or there testing methods, but I love my PLX M-300 and I've dynoed on different dyno's and I've had the same readouts. I've had mine for for about 4 years and it still reads accurately. The only problem I had with the unit is that 2 of my LED's on the display died recently, but PLX fixed it for free and gave me a whole brand new display. The warranty was only for a year.

Why did they use the old M-300 instead of the SM-AFR+DM-5 anyways?

PLX Devices response to the test.
http://www.plxdevices.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1312

I wouldn't use the chart as a bases to buying a wideband. I mean most of the test was "Subjective". I think all widebands work and do what they are supposed to do. I still plan on buying the new SM-AFR+DM-5 from PLX when I'm ready for it in the DSM.

I agree, I can't see them rating a PLX's accuracy as POOR! WTF

The AEM unit was accurate during our tests, but with no real data logging capability, of limited usefulness for actual tuning. It was average for response time.
Bull****. I can hook it up to my EFC and datalog it that way.

And yeah, FordMuscle is endorsed by Innovate.

Exactly the AEM is the best "bang for the buck" at $250 and it has a 232 output wire to log with a USB adapter. IMO i't can't be beat for the price and accuracy.

IMO the LC-1 is the best bang for the buck. It's MSRP is $199

the Dynojet software that i have with the dyno uses a Bosch LSU4 sensor, which is what alot of major car manufactuers, motec, and many other wideband controllers use....so i find the fact that it is lower on scale (+/-.75) a lil hard to beleive...not to metion ive compared mine with AEM several times and they are usually within .1-.15 of each other. the biggest downside with the AEM that i have found is that race gas seems to tear them up more then other sensors...

No offense, but tuning with an AEM UEGO is so easy it's not funny.

As long as you have a way of logging. Than they are all easy.

1st of all the gauge is allways all over the damn place moving and there is no way to control the feedback, also most loggers do not have the aem wideband support. dont get me wrong they work pretty well but they are more of a gauge than a tuning tool to me. i do sell a **** load of them though.

I've never had a problem with the gauges skipping like a schoolgirl like that. If it was the old version, they had an issue with them.

I'v used over 20 of them little bastards on customers cars. THe stupid lights are incredibly anoying. That's why I use a PLX M300 on all my own personal cars. Little anoying lights are useless for tunning, all I'm after is a number.

I like both. And it has both. Annoying lights keep me awake.
