1 of 39 Ferrari 250 GTO's wrecked.

An American multi-millionaire crashed his Ferrari 250 GTO in central France while on a trip to commemorate the legendary model's 50th anniversary, the India Times reports.

The man, investor Christopher Cox, crashed the GTO, which he bought in 2005 and is estimated to be worth more than $30 million, while taking a spin on the legendary Gueux race course on Friday.

The racetrack jaunt was part of a five-day tour that also included Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason in his 250 GTO.
Only 39 of these Ferraris were ever made and were all built between 1962 and 1964.
To add injury to insult, his wife Ann broke her leg in the accident.

the other 38 owners just tacked on a couple extra mill to their asking prices.

Part of me wants to say awesome he bought a car to drive it, but in reality the man is an idiot. Drive something that doesn't cost 30 million and put some money towards driving lessons.

He tracks it regularly...as do many GTO owners. It's not like he's a noob behind the wheel.

Such a shame considering how nice the GTO is. At least the guy was ok. Probably thought about killing himself for a second.

Or maybe not depending on his thoughts on money haha.

Nick Mason must be an idiot too, and the other owners at the same event.

According to a story released a couple days ago the accident occurred in town and involved another car also and was not the fault of Cox.

And kudos to Mr. Cox him for driving the car on the track--that is what the car was designed and built to do. I am surprised he drove it on the street (yes, I think it's far more risky for him to drive on the street than on the track). This car has been wrecked several time before (in racing incidents) and it will surely be rebuilt after this wreck.

Would not want to be the person at fault when damaging a car like that! Very sad to see such a rare and beautiful car wrecked. However, like other have said, the car was designed to be driven. I give them credit for using them like they're meant to be.

i wouldn't want to be either person's insurance company. the person at fault more than likely isnt carrying enough insurance to cover a 30 million $ vehicle. so the owner's insurance company is probably going to have to cover the remaining $29,950,000

I didn't see any pics of the wreck in the links above. Anybody find any?

As stated above, it will certainly be rebuilt and probably at least as good as new when done...unless it's melted into a glob of molten beer cans.

As for insurance, since this was on a racetrack I suspect there would be liability waivers signed so only the insurance that Cox had on this car would be on the line for coverage.

I couldn't find any either.. I'd really like to see the extent of the damage though. Plus, as stated before, it'll be fixed. If you can afford 30 million for a car... you can afford to fix it.

No way Ferrari would let pictures of this accident hit the web....no way, you know they paid anyone with a cellphone to not take pictures of the accident.

I don't find it a particularly good looking car. the racing heritage, very cool, the look, not so much.

Thirty million dollar mistake, what a shame.

And I thought it was a shame when I saw a C5 vette and more recently a '11 M coupe hop a curb at the autoX, chicken feed compared to.

Why buy something and never use it for its intended purpose?? That's a pet peeve of mine. I had a buddy drop 2g's on a surfboard to never use it... why? It's not a commemorative plate-
