Second annual TST track day June 23-24 at NJMP

Ender81 and I have been working on planning this year's track day for TST. Last year's event at Pocono was fun.

We are announcing the track day six months in advance to give everyone plenty of time to save up any necessary money and get their cars ready.

Date: June 23rd and 24th, 2012
Location: New Jersey Motorsports Park Lightning Track
8000 Dividing Creek Road, Millville, NJ 08332

After you enter the main gate and get your wrist band at security, make a right and follow that road all the way around to the track.

Cost:
  • $265.00 if you do one day.
  • $399.00 if you do both days.

Registration is open from now until June 17th 2012. However, I'd suggest registering as soon as possible. As of today, five people registered for the event on Trackdaze's web site. I'll provide updates on the number of registered people as time goes on.

Additional Details:
The group we will be running with is Trackdaze.
You will need to create an account there to register, but creating an account is free.
Trackdaze has excellent instructors and you get plenty of track time with them. Some of their instructors work at or have worked at those high priced racing/driving school you hear about and others race professionally. Even the instructors that don't race or instruct professionally are really good. You get more track time per day with Trackdaze than you do with NASA. Expect about two hours of track time per day broken into 4 or 5 sessions. Also Trackdaze has a lower cost per event than NASA right now. So we decided to switch to a different group to get more track time at a lower cost.

Helmets:
NJ laws state that open face helmets are only allowed in street cars with active airbag systems on the track. If your vehicle doesn't have an airbag, you need a full face helmet. If you are buying a helmet, I'd suggest a SA2005 or later helmet. A SA2010 helmet will be good for track days until 2020. A SA 2005 Helmet will be good for track days until 2015.

Hotel Info:
  • I usually stay at the Quality Inn in Millville, NJ when I go to NJMP. AAA rates are currently $66/night for that weekend in June. Its a short distance down the street from a shopping center and a Wawa.
  • NJMP has condos/town homes for rent on track property and you can contact NJMP to make arrangements. They are located next to the other track at NJMP.
  • There are also other hotels in the area.
  • You can also camp at NJMP if you desire to do that. There are a few showers in the restrooms at the track.

Insurance Info:
If you are taking your daily driver to the track or a street car that you have invested plenty of time and money into, you may want to insure it on the track.

For those that missed the video link above in the location, here is an in car video of the track:

Additional info and updates to follow at a later time.

Yes, many people bring their RV's to the track. There is a large paved area along with a very large grass area for parking.

Great! I've been on that track, in fact, that was the first track I've ever been on. I'll try to make it out.

This sounds so awesome. I don't think I could ever get my car to stop leaking fluids though.

Meh,

mine drips power steering here and there but I know that's not an issue. The issue is making sure the cooling system is refreshed and with now 230,000 miles I'm 5,000 miles overdue for *another* cooling system refresh. I need to sell this car and buy something else ;)

As long as you don't have the bottle with you and don't hook up a bottle during the track day, it probably won't be an issue.
