Should I darken my tails? (Show some domestic love)

Hopefully you guys can help convince me to either tint my tails or leave them as is. This is my 2004 Dodge Durango hemi. Unfortunately no one makes an aftermarket 3rd brake light and sometimes I can't stand how the 3rd brake light is a bright red and my aftermarket LED tail lights are a darker red. I was considering tinting them with some Lamin-x. I tired VHT nightshades on a spare set of tails a year or two ago... didn't like the outcome.

Thoughts?

i would do it, the way i did my tails is i masked out the brake lights and put a piece of paper over them for the first few layers of spray. then i added maybe 4-5 lays on the brake light, this gives the look of tint but they are still visible. Or you can just buy LED's.

Well I'm not going to use the spray tint so that I can revert back to they way they are... which is why I would use the Lamin-x film. I tried removing VHT before and it doesn't return back perfectly when you remove it.

I'd leave them alone but remember if you tint the whole light it is going to be a PITA to reverse at night if you tint the reverse lights too.

I wouldn't do it. You're just giving a perfectly good DD a reason to get pulled over.

Tinted tails typically FTW. One of my buddies works at a paint shop and he just mixes a little black with some clear and voila, nice smoked lights. He's done several sets now and every one has turned out perfect... not too dark, not too light.

Niteshades is horrible. I used duplicolors spray tint. They come out much nicer. And I've had it done for a couple years on most of my cars and never been stopped yet.

Leave the big tails alone and lightly tint the 3rd to match?

I really hate dark tinted tails. Can't see **** during the day.

If you do, don't over do it. Was behind someone who did and couldn't see that they were stopping.
