O6 cobalt transmission

So I had to take apart a 5 speed Manual the f35 from a 06 chevy cobalt at work today. The complaint was "popping out of 5th" I removed the rear cover and found the 5th gear synchro And fork where trashed.

I was told this most likely happen from leaving your hand on the shift knob in 5th. The slight pressure on the lever "semi engages" the synchro and eventually wearing it down like this one.

More pictures.
The other gear's where also beat up from just bad driving or someone beating on it. Needs all new synchros and forks.

*sorry for the **** pictures*

very cool stuff. I've never really seen the inside of a transmission. I've heard it's bad to leave your hand on the shifter, so I never do except for changing gears. That's what the e-brake or your lap is for.

Yea it's cool stuff. We mostly see automatics all day so this is something different. And I figured some of the cobalt owners would get a kick out of it.
