have you checked fuses? Ive changed wire harnesses after a missfire because of a coilpack exploding.. Car ended up not starting after I replaced it. Turned out it was a fuse :banghead:

hmmm couldn't find anywhere for the fuses/relays to check.. however I constantly see its almost always the coil pack for this... even tiny cracks. Im sure you replaced it, but im just making sure because that was the answer in every thread.
http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?793322 http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...1#post69931606 also, Ive seen - check your grounds.

check your grounds on the engine/trans and under the battery tray. I had to scrap a mk3 jetta because I was never able to find the problem, these things can get aggravating.
and if it gets to the point of parting it out I could always use another vr6, but lets hope you figure it out. Last edited by RedWabbit; 08-04-2011 at 06:43 PM. |

is this a drive by wire car?
if so, i'd scan the ECU, ABS, etc. check all of it and see what codes you have. im actually working thru this **** with my vr now, tho i've pretty much gotten it pegged down. I would try cleaning your MAF sensor, you can use 91%+ isopropyl alcohol, or CRC Maf Sensor Cleaner. It is not uncommon for those cars to have bad throttle position sensors, and i believe i've read about the board going bad inside the pedal for drive by wire (if that applies). actually, i just replaced my TPS on my vr6 and it fixed everything besides my operating temperature power loss (o2 sensor isnt reading right, corroded connector) That would definitely cause your car to miss and the EPC light to illuminate, the maf can also trigger the same lights, and sometimes misfires.

Did you replace all teh coil packs? Make sure you checked them all. And recheck them now. I have lost count on how many I have had to replace as well as the recalls on them.
did you replace the MAF with an OEM MAF? These cars don't like the ebay stuff. |

this is a afp 12v vr6 not a 24v vr6. it only has 1 coil pack for all 6 plugs, unlike yours with coil on plug
