Hey guys,

My buddy has a G35 and he just got the p1716 code and he noticed that the car downshifts a lil oddly (auto)...I tried searching online but couldn't get a clear answer on what it means not being a member of any Nissan sites. I did find out that it's related to the TURBINE REVOLUTION SENSOR but does it need to be replaced or what?

How expensive is it? I saw that it was also part of a recall in 2002-2003...he got the car in 2007 and I believe it's an 04.

Any info is appreciated.

Its on top of the tranny,it seems,somewhere maybe near the VSS if you have one.

Some more info,most of the diagnosis is requiring a consult-II scan tool.

-It monitors the input shaft speed (RPM)
– When TCM does not receive the proper voltage signal from the sensor.
– When TCM detects an irregularity only at position of 4th gear for turbine revolution sensor 2.

Possible causes
-Harness or connectors. (Sensor circuit is open or shorted.)
-Turbine revolution sensor 1 and/or 2.

Basically sounds like a bad ground or a bad sensor.
