Why do people tape up their cars?

I see cars sometimes with their bumpers taped up in blue tape and was wondering why. What kind of tape is it too?

If I see tape on the charger, I'm going to slap the everloving **** out of you.

Painters tape can also be used to fill in rust, especially on fenders haha

As long as it isn't covering safety equipment (lights/reflectors) it's fine...

You're going to use occasional rock chips as an excuse to roll with painters tape? Better off with a clear-bra personally speaking. I saw it on an xB with airbrush all over it, that I understand, but I'm personally tired of seeing people tape up their cars for no good reason. Just ranting.

Why do people tape up their cars?

Just wondering for long road trips on a stretch of highway. I was just curious

Typically, around town driving i would see tape as excessive, unless you are going on a long road trip, with unfamiliar roads, to prevent damage.

I know allot of people from up my way (NEPA) Used it to go down to carisle, because their cars were already polished, cleaned and perfect, why would they ruin the front ends when they just did all that work?

Yeah, but uncured paint is alot more vunerable than cured paint. That argument is kind of like saying, "why bother taking care of your car at all, its just gonna get mesed up anyways."

yeah i agree completely. For someone to tape up their car for driving around town they would have to be the most jewish person in the world. If you have a fresh bumper or whatever and you tape it whats the point in making it look nice if its always going to be covered up.. I understand for track use but for street use its seems illogical.

id say its acceptable if your driving on a highway for long periods of time and rocks and debris are flying up at high speeds. especially if you have a really nice car and great condition. but thats just me

apparently you havent driven on the PA turnpike or in new jersey in your life. the amount of sh!t that gets kicked up into my bumper and front of my hood is RIDICULOUS. that being said, if i had a nicer car, or fresh paint id sure as sh!t tape it up.

plus. if you are driving a distance to a show, you wash the car before you leave, tape it for bug purposes, then just california dust it when u arrive. makes a lot of sense.

sounds like you just want to find something to hate on.
