Self-owned.
:screwy: How did I not notice?

I'm gonna start posting groups of a few pictures for critiquing from now on then. As much as this thread is cool I hate to clutter it up with critiques, so this can be mainly just sweet pictures.

if you have a lot of good pics just make your own thread. i did.

It's LENS!!! NOT LENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How did you shoot 1/10 of a sec at 1.8, dark outside?? I shot one in partial sunlight in my backyard the first day at 1.8 and it was 1/8000 of a sec...

the D200 works with my old manual lenses (something most other DSLR's dont do) so i broke out my beloved 50mm f1.4 and just played with a couple shots just now... f1.4 is glorious...

I did the same thing playing around on the plane this past weekend with the 1.8...

It was hard to keep it crisp by hand because it was pretty low light.

Here is a photo from today, it is a picture of a water drop on the bottom of my bathroom window. I added some darkening of the edges (vinetting), sharpening, and a conversion to B&W.

In the Nikon line only the D2X and D200 function fully with AI and AIS lenses. Other DSLRs work but wont meter properly, so you can use them but you're on your own for metering. The D200 works perfectly with my 24mm f2.8 AIS and my 50mm f1.4 AI lenses.
And the water droplet shot is pretty cool :)

I see. I used to work with all of this stuff, but since I have not done it for 3-4 months I have not read any of the spec sheets. I know that was usually the first thing I looked for (Manual lens support) if a new body from Nikon came out.

Thank you for the comments on the water shot. Since the rain ruined my plans to change the starter in my car, I felt the need to make the best of it.

Cool shots! I think I have seen some of those before, and that was a bit of inspiration for me.

Here are some older shots:

Both of these are pictures of water on the same flower. Taken with a Sigma 105MM EX Macro, which is slowly becomming my most used lens.

Good capture, but the shadow in the back is distracting. I don't get to play around with a flash too much, since my one speedlight does not work with my D70, and the built-in flash does not clear most of my Sigma lenses.

I did discover a while back that bouncing the flash, or using something like a Sto-Fen flash diffuser can give you a more natural looking light along with reducing the occurance of shadows.

Yeah, I try to avoid using it as much as possible. I couldn't lean on anything there, so I was forced to use it. I'm going to be back and forth out here through February, so I'll end up taking a bunch of shots for real once I figure out the tripod situation.

Here's the whole thing...it was pretty funny.

It's a nice shot, but did you mean to shoot at 1400 ISO?? It's got more noise than a rock concert.

Also, if it was framed differently (about an inch from the left moved to the right and maybe 1/4"-1/2" from the bottom to the top) it would be even better.

^^I would have voted for it then^^
