VR-4-Life's 3000GT VR-4 - 99 lights, Cianci front end. Fuel system next.

Well now that im actually putting big bucks into my car i figured i would start a member journal to track my progress.

I purchased this car 3 years ago in NJ after my prelude was totaled.

It was a Garage kept MINT 93 VR4 That i found in the middle of nowhere in Frenchtown NJ.

The car came with a set of O.Z Racing F-1 Wheels

Once i picked up the car i promptly did the 120K and then started the mods

I added

A walboro 255
Apexi Safc2
DSM Pocketlogger with palm
Tubo XS MBC at 15PSI
Greddy type RS BOV
Gutted precats with a 3inch race pipe
3sx 3inch downpipe
New Powdercoated ypipe
Deft Racing A pillar replacement with 3 Pods
Prosport Oil pressure, Boost, fuel pressure eleteric blue's
Apex-i turbo timer

Over time i grew not to like the 1G front end so i decided to go with a full 99 front end with a Novara bumper from Cinaci.

The parts are on their way and within a month or two the car will be transformed into this work of art.

Im keeping the car white with a OEM style CF hood.

Once i finish the front end i plan on doing the cars turbos.

This will be a long build to come. I plan on making this car a show car while still giving it enough power to run 11's

Theres nothing ricey about it. I remember troll calling me one night saying he was behind a nasty ricey 3000gt in PA.

If you paid $1000 for that, you got RIPPED off... BIG TIME. Cianci sells it on his site for $650, and 3sx sells it for $619... which is a nice surprise...

Any plans for his widebody?

The only thing that bothers me about that front bumper is the way it sits at the wheel-well (it looks angled forward, from a side view). Otherwise his craftsmanship is flawless. I have a few things on order with him now as well :) He really does make some of the best stuff for these cars.

No idea to both of you... for now im getting the bumper painted the stock glacier white. then putting it all on... however i am going to finish the work on the del sol first. It is getting turboed again within a week of the 30th (turbonetics gets delivered)

The vr4 is probably going to wait till its warmer out. the vr4 is pretty much my "keep it garaged, drive it seldom, build it BIG over time project"

Meh...99 front end FTL. Just about 99% of the 3S community has done it and it really got old fast. Unless you're planning to run an FMIC, 99 front ends are a no-go in my book. The 1G front end looks so much better. But oh well. I payed $550 for a lip and you payed $1000 for a whole bumper. Not too bad lol. Damn 3000GTs and their expensive parts.

Well i havent updated this in awhile and i have slowly been collecting parts.

I picked up a pair of brand new carbon fiber fenders a week ago. I figured id lighten the car up as much as possible. I had planned on going with ciancis fenders but I really dont like fiberglass. I figured that i would leave as little fiberglass as possible.

I also picked up a used Seibon hood. I got a good deal on it that i couldnt pass up. Im not sure how i feel about it though, it seems kind of ricer, but I'll see how it looks once i get it painted along with the fenders and front bumper.

And without further delay.. The best was saved for last.. The infamous 1999 3000GT headlights. I paid a premium for these babies. They are a bit modded with halo's around the projectors. I wasnt sure if i would like them at first but i bought them anyway knowing I could always keep the rings turned off or sell the lamps for new ones. Now that I have them I really like them. It was hard to capture the color of the rings but its a DEEP PURPLE. I think its looks pretty damn good and it will give another little shine to the car.

I just need to get some 99 signal lamps and im set on the front end. I'm ordering 99 sail pannels and an HID kit while im at it though.. Theres nothing like a box of goodies... theres reallllly nothing like coming back to your desk at work and finding a package waiting for you.

anyhow.. I talked to Ryan at ciaci about the wide body rear fenders, sparco fuel door relocator, rear bumper, and side skirts.

OK so i like.... the fenders, hood, new front bumper, the headlights ( - the halo's) & them sexy ass a pillar gauges.

The pillars kind of gets in the way at times. however it was the cleanest install I could find aside from putting gauges in the glove box. It does look good though.

my del sol needs new gauges.. Im going to throw all of these prosports into it. that leaves room for some defi's and a controller

I just ordered the 99 signal lamps and a pair of 99 sail pannels already painted to match the car. For those who dont know what sail pannels are......

Look at the section over the rear quarter pannel. all of the 91-98 sail pannels had a portion of black plastic material with "Twin Turbo" written on them. I wanted to clean it up and get the 99 sail pannels that look like this.

The 99 sails are wider and give the car a better look overall IMO....Of course I wont be putting any text or decals on it, but this should give you an idea...

personally, i really don't like the wing. it might actually fit the overall look of your car though because your hood and front bumper are more that style. if your car was all stock like the first picture, the wing would look out of place.

Behold my new fuel system. This is going to be my next step after the body work is finished next month.

as you can see i wont have to worry about fuel for a very long time. Its nice to just bang out a complete system and never worry about it again.

I had it out last summer with the 15g's and ran it a couple times at the track. I installed my evo3 16g's kit late summer and couldn't get a good tune with the SAFC Neo with that set up. I traded that kit plus cash for my next setup. I get my engine back from the machine shop next week and I'm installing everything that weekend. I'm coming out big this summer. GT42R big :mrgreen:
