Were both cars automatic? Well it depends on what your looking for, your looking at two completely different cars. Scion TC is an economy driven sporty car and is FWD, on the other hand you have a RWD Sports Oriented car that is not going to get as good gas milage and have a completely different feel than a FWD car as you probably noticed. Being Toyota Biased and not a big fan of American made cars im going to say that the Scion TC is going to be more realiable and having a longer life than the Dodge Charger, with less maintence problems down the road etc. I know a bunch of American Muscle guys are going to jump in and say im a ricer full of crap Dodge is a well built car, but taken from family expierence my dad loves dodge my mom loves toyota so we have had our fair share of both....Funny no my dad is no longer a Dodge or American made car fan anymore.....

But its what you like, you said you LOVED The charger so if thats what you like than get. Is is a good Buy depending on how bad you want that car, any car can have problems, more some than others, so really its what you want and if your willing to pay for it

Both were automatic considering i cant drive manual. haha. i liked the sportiness of the scion. but to me its more sensible to have a charger. i figure if i keep up the maintenance and get one with somewhat low mileage, i can keep it for a long time. I know the charger eats gas, especially if i go the v8 instead of the 6, but i really don't drive that far to go to school or work. and once i graduate im guaranteed my dream job thats right in my town. so im not really concerned about gas. my dad likes the safety of the charger which means he will help pitch in to buy it. but the scion is like my idol car. my head hurts from thinking about all thiss. haha

Like said, two completely different cars. However, one is a two door and one is a four, Ive driven both V6 and V8 chargers, and the Scion TC.

Now, while I like the styling of the TC exterior wise, it felt incredibly cheap and uncomfortable to me on the interior. However, I am picky about my interiors because I drive ALOT. The Charger is a bigger, safer and faster car if you go with the V8 (theres no sense in getting the V6) and has the comfort of four doors, which pays off alot if you have friends haha jk.

I personally would get the Charger if you werent concerned with getting a manual transmission, which the Charger doesnt come with at all. Its one of Dodges' better cars.

thats exactly how i feel about the TC. ive been a passenger and a driver in the TC. and both times i was not thrilled about. i love the way it looks on the outside, but i felt that they half assed the inside. The charger i felt so comfortble in. very spacious and a very sophisticated car

Well its all about what you put into the car aslo, and the price range is quite different between the two cars also.....So yes if i was buying a charger for idk what they go for high 20's-mid 30's depending on models? to a brand new scion TC for around 23 fully loaded so gotta take that into account

and what Medical School are you at im in a Medical Imaging program at Bloom U and plan on going to Jefferson

haha i would be fine with a v6
im kinda like a kluts
and like my old boss and my dad always say
"you dont need all that power"

Oakes

You always need all that power, if you buy a Charger, get it used with low miles. Car Sense and Car Vision are good places to find them with low miles for decent prices which will be = or < a new TC, just let someone else take the hit for depreciation. You can also consider my Ford Fusion, its sweet and its a 2009...

I would get a Charger over a Mustang personally, and I work for Ford. You can definately find a decent deal on one if you look, as with any car. I just for some reason liked the HEMI Charger we had for a week, it was comfy, attractive inside and out, little effort to move and great sound. Just ashame you cant get it in stick, especially the SRT-8.

yeahh i wasnt really sure about a mustang at the time, i was just throwin ideas out to my dad.. yeahh the charger is so sleek looking. my mom votes yes for it, my dad on the other hand i havent really discussed it with him yet.. and yeah i wish i could drive stick, but i dont concenttrate too well. thats why automatic is best haha

if concentration is an issue... you should get a stick.

I think if everyone had to actually pay attention to driving their car (ie having a manual trans) then there would be less careless accidents resulting from not paying attention.

haha I'll have to back her up on this.. My girl is in Radiology, only went to school for 2 years, working at the hospital while in school. Then got a job 10 minutes from home and makes 60k @ age 25 once she passed her boards. Not a bad gig if you ask me. And she gets mad OT from being on-cal;l few times a month. Def a good field.

on the other hand..if the Scion is your dream car, you got issues. lol I drive a Focus, but not because I want to..lol

Stick is alot of fun, not sure I will ever go back to automatic in all honesty. Dad im sure will go for you in a big, comfy and safe car. I got my Fusion because i needed something on the bigger side (4doors) safe (6 airbags) fuel efficient (4cylinder-up to 34mpg) and its been Ford's most reliable car in the last decade.

Im just a college student who works when im not in class, so getting a fast, gas guzzling car thats expensive to insure wasnt much of an option.

The TC is a nice sporty car. I just thought it was weird that of call cars that was your dream car. Chargers are def nice, especially if you don't drive too much. If you did, gas would kill you.

Yeah, Scion wasnt as smart with the TC as they should have been, it could have been a really great car had they put more effort into it. Not saying it isnt a good car now, it's just that once you drive one and see how cheap the interior is and how uncomfortable the seats are you learn to not like it.

I drove one home from the Jersey shore once, worst drive of my life (besides the lack of intelligence blondes managing the directions) actually it wasnt the worst drive, it was just a painful one that didnt involve any collisions.

The Fusion is a great car, it surprises alot of people, mostly because it's a Ford. Great chassis, comfy as hell (driver and passenger, which i also found with the Charger) great options (i can control everything in the car with voice command, including the phone/ipod/sat radio) and for a decent price.

lol, some people are like that, we have people order cars with all manual options except windows. Just want to get in it and drive, however if you are in a car as much as I am (My 2009 car already has 6200 miles on it) then you like the comfort and ease-of-use options.

If you get the charger, id suggest a light color, because its a big car with alot of smooth edges which = scratches are very easy to see. Im extremely picky about the appearance of my car, as are alot of members on here haha. I dont know how you are with your cars though.

im stuck between black or white. ive seen chargers upclose in both black and white. i like any color inn white pretty much. looks clean and easy to keep clean i think. black looks sleek but i know is a pain to keep clean. i really want black rims. so im trying to think in my mind how either color would look with black rims. i dunno how white with black rims will look?

White with black wheels can be just as good a combo as black with black wheels. Im personally a sucker for white, almost got it on my Fusion, but the Redfire metallic won me over. Its just like clothing, anything goes with white. It is easier to keep clean and can look just as good as black when kept in top shape.

ive had a charger rt for 2.5 years ive had no real problems (its actually my wifes car ).bone stock with the window sticker and the spare removed it was running 13.8 @101 .witch is pretty fast for the wife comming from a jeep and a taurus ..the only issue i had was an 0-ring leaking on the trans dipstick and one of the led in the console went out (both warranty items)
we put a k@n filter ,a flashpack programmer , cam and a converter in it and it runs low 12,s @109 with out any difference in drivability ,we chose not to get exaust just to keep it queit) i opted not to get the srt8 for the insurance break and i figured we could get the car as fast for alot less money (same performace for about $1500 after the origional purchase ..
there a little heavy around the corners but over all a pretty nice car riding on a mercedies platform and trans ..

I don't really like the chargers. I've driven a few of them, and they just felt numb. No feel between yourself and the road. I hate numb cars.

My boss has a TC that I've driven a few times. It's no rocket, but I like it a lot more than any charger I've ever driven. Plus, the charger interior isn't all that great either.

IMO, thats gonna be too much of a car for you if you buy the charger...your comparing a TC to a 5.7L BREATHING DRAGON! (I know this simply because my mom had a Stage 2 charger with full exhaust)

If your looking for a car along the lines of a TC get something more girly like the newer styled eclipses hell even a RSX...id rather see you drive that than having a beautiful piece of machinery like that wrapped around a pole

Hey, just wanted to throw my opinion in here.

I drive a 2005 Scion xB. I bought it because it was cheap, reliable, and really easy to mod. It was a 15k car with a plastic interior. I had a 2007 Charger as a rental one weekend when my scion was in the shop, and i though "For the price of the car, the interior sure does feel cheap" Everything was plastic on the interior. It felt like i was back in my Scion.

I would also beware of buying a used charger because a lot them have been fleet vehicles for different rental companies, or businesses.

I liked the charger, because of how much room was in the car, but dollar for dollar, i like my scion better.

Honestly, its not hard to get used to driving standard. Takes some practice, but once you start getting into the rythem of it, its simple.

As to the original post... if you can afford the car, like the car, and don't mind the size of the car (too big IMO), then get the car.
