Window Tint Police Warning Notice

I was driving to work and saw a police officer driving the opposite direction as me and then after he passed me he turned around and followed me. My windows were down the entire time and after about two miles he finally flash his lights and pulls me over. He asked for all the stuff that they normally ask for on a regular pull over and then i just asked what was the problem and he states that my window tint were too dark....Goes back to his car and brings a light meter to my car and tested and then gave me a Police Warning Notice. He then explains to me that I have 5 days to take off the tint and take it to the police station to have them check it out. I told the police officer that he might as well give me the ticket cause I'm not taking off my tint but then he refuses to give me a ticket and says I have 5 days to take it off or there will be penalties and consequences for my actions. My question is how much exactly is this ticket going to be? And what's the deal with the police officer not letting me get the ticket right away? What exactly is this Police Warning Notice?

can i just pay the fine and still have my tints?......I'm in pennsylvania. I wasn't disrespecting him in anyway I just let him finish and then asked him can I just get the citation instead of having to go through the process of taking off my tint and taking my car to the police station.

I'm glad to hear you were polite that big points in my book!

As for the tints you might be losing them I'll have to look it up (if any PA officers or drivers know the answer let me know) but I believe that you will have to bring you car in to show you've removed the tint before a summons or a warrant is issued for you.
As soon as I know for sure I'll post the info.

TITLE 75 Section 4524 (e)(1) of the Pennsylvania Common Statutes states that

(1) No person shall drive any motor vehicle with any sun screening device or other material which does not permit a person to see or view the inside of the vehicle through the windshield, side wing or side window of the vehicle.

Note that the law only prohibits tinting which prevents a person from seeing or viewing the inside of the vehicle. It does not prohibit all tinting or tinting below 70%.

If its below 70% your ok did the officer tell what % yours was?

he said that mine was 17%. 70% is outrageous that's basically clear as day.

Just FYI 70% is what most factory glass is... the glass has a tint stained into it when it is manufactured, its not totally clear, and the reason for this is to prevent fading, glare, etc. When the law says 70% light transmittance, it means that you cant put anything on the glass (for most cars which are shipped with 70% glass from the factory).
