First time at the track
Anywho, my 1st time at a track in my completely stock 06 GT i ran a 15.2 @ 90mph on my 1st run and then it was downhill from there. 1st run i didnt launch, I just wanted to make sure i didnt redlight. I was a lil nervous (but the Fit i was racing caught a red as i blew by him ) Then i launched from 3k, 2.5k, 2.2k, and 1.5k and everytime i broke em loose. At 3k i spun thru 2nd and finally caught traction in 3rd! At 1.5k i managed to pull a 15.3 @ 91 i think it was. But my last run i didnt launch again and pulled another 15.2 @ 90. Any tips or suggestions? Where do you launch from (with what mods?)

FWD, I usually dropped it at 2200-2500 and hooked up good. One more pointer, don't do a John Force burnout on street tires it is useless. Just pull through the waterbox then do a short spin in first just to clean the tires off. this might help you stop spinning off the tree. You should be around a 2.2 60'
Edit: Dont worry to much about your ET it will go down with experience. But your trap speed is pretty consistant, this is a good thing. What were your 60' times? They are the most important.

You just have to keep on practicing and I mean not on the street. Launching on the street is totaly different than launching at the track. You just have to find the sweet spot where your car likes to launch at. Even though you might have heard stuff from other Tibby owners. Just remember every car is different and will act different with different drivers.

sry bout the Fit comments, no harsh feelings i hope, just noticed that you also caught a red against my friends cavy
i wasnt doing burnouts, i did pull past the water and gave em like 2 rotations it just seemed that everytime i launched they broke loose, like the time i launched at 3k i spun thru 2nd and ran a 16.6 not sure what my '60 times are, slips are at home i'll post em 2nite, but yea my traps were all within like 1 mph of each other thanks for the input, and hopefully i'll do better next season

yeah redlights mean nothing. the clock starts as soon as you leave. i wasn't to concerned about red lighting since it was just test and tune and i was trying to get the launches down in that terd box, lol. no hard feelings man all in good fun......i like the interior of your car didnt know they came in tan.

i redlight all of the time.
suggestions= drop tire pressure, slip the clutch more (even if it burns it a little bit, it is the best way to get a fwd car out of the hole), and flat-shift where the car starts to drop off in power- NOT always at the redline. there really isn't much more to it. launch rpms, burnout, etc.. can be played with too. fwiw a little tire spin is not a bad thing on a fwd car- as long as the car is moving forward rather than sitting there and spinning. |

true and a little amount of spinning will keep the rpm's up and its better than wheel hop or bogging.
